Climate change is driving up more than just Earth's temperature. It's making hurricanes more intense, too, which should make us revisit how we categorize these destructive storms to better warn people at risk in the future, researchers reported in a new study.
The researchers recommend adding a Category 6 to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, which currently ranks powerful tropical storms based on wind speed starting at Category 1 (74 to 95 mph) up to Category 5 (157 mph or higher).
The "or higher" for Category 5 storms is where scientists take issue.

Global Temperature Trends From 2500BC to 2040AD:
My hurricane scale goes to 11.
Real Climate Scientologists!
Thanks for posting this!
Need to show this to a few friends who are pulling their hair out over global warming!!
“It’s making hurricanes more intense, too“
Lie.
I can send you the links if you want.
Please do.
Thank you! MUCH!
Oh dear oh my!! We need to add something worser to scare idiots even more.
Wait, same “scientists” that now name every snowstorm?
lololol, drama queens
Given what has become of the mainstream media (and a big chunk of the alternative media as well), is it really surprising that the weather reports would be filled with propaganda too?
I doubt the actual scientist are naming the storms.
I think that’s a Weather Channel thing.
It’s all the same hair pulling hysteria
OMG! Weather!
We all gonna die!
No
I think most people see what is going on, but on Instagram
there can be four or five absolutely terrifying weather
depictions in just a few minutes.
If you’re not of sound mind, I can see how that could
terrorize some people. I see evidence of it working with
some people.
They aren’t questioning it. They buy off on it and wonder
“Oh me oh my, what shall I do?”
It’s rather infuriating to watch what they are trying to
do to people, and with some success.
Funny thing is ozone is created during lightning storms.
Hole in the ozone is located close to Antarctica.
Not many lightning storms down there.
But if you’ve lived through a 5 you never forget it ….1938.

If we just add more government and taxes everything will get better, if not then we don’t have enough government and taxes.
Remember back a few months ago, when they were testing out
their new emergency broadcast texting abilities.
Over the last five days they have issued a number of
weather alerts warning of a flash flood, and telling
people not to attempt to travel unless they were trying
to escape bad weather related danger.
There’s no about this is going to grow to be their big
go-to for keeping us in our homes.
These people area just plain control freaks, and
nuttier than a fruitcake.
Correction:
There’s no doubt this is...
Well, I’d like to think you cane plan for a Tornado better,
but maybe not.
A subterranean berm home could make it fairly safe.
