EU Politicians Threaten to Sanction Tucker Carlson for Interviewing Vladimir Putin

European Union lawmakers have called for Brussels to impose sanctions on American journalist Tucker Carlson for interviewing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Despite the longstanding tradition of American journalists interviewing dictators of all stripes, including a leader of the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War, top Eurocrat Guy Verhofstadt has called for Tucker Carlson to face EU sanctions for sitting down with the Russian strongman.

The former Belgian Prime Minister and strong Brexit opponent, who currently serves in the European Parliament, told Newsweek: “As Putin is a war criminal and the EU sanctions all who assist him in that effort, it seems logical that the External Action Service examine his case as well.”

The process for the EU to sanction an individual is typically a lengthy one, with evidence first needing to be presented to its External Action Service — the bloc’s diplomatic arm, run by Spanish socialist Josep Borrell — before being put to the European Council for a final decision.

However, before the interview with Putin, which the Kremlin confirmed on Wednesday, Verhofstadt also suggested that Carlson could face being banned from entering the EU, which could feasibly be imposed sooner, writing on Monday: “Tucker Carlson is surely on the path to being labelled a propagandist for the Russian regime. If he enables disinformation for Putin, the EU should explore a travel ban!”

Which side is really more like the old Soviet Union and wants the equivalent of a new iron curtain? The EU or Russia?

The EU is becoming a totalitarian entity. Obviously they are afraid of Tucker getting Putin to discuss the real reasons for the proxy Ukrainian war.

This is absurd - CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour claims she has been trying to get an interview with Putin since he invaded Ukraine. If she had scored the interview, would the EU bureaucrats be attempting to sanction the Palestinian lady anchor from the left-wing network? No, of course they wouldn't.

US or EU, the globalist left-wing thinks and acts the same way.

“Christiane Amanpour claims she has been trying to get an interview with Putin since he invaded Ukraine”

IIRC wasn’t she in and out of Iraq during during the Desert Storm and Desert Shield operations talking to their military?

I don’t recall anyone bitching About that.

OK, I am putting sanctions on the EU.

They are banned from entering my property.

Take That EU!

Oh, and I will add: Do not enter not just physically, but electronically or mentally.

Any attempt is interpreted as Racisim, Anti-Semeticism, White Supremecy, Religious Superiority, Genecide, Homophobia, and more . . .

Under threat of International Court.

Kangaroos are international too, you know.

Nothing says “We firmly believe in freedom of speech” like banning a person for asking questions of a perceived opponent.

How dare Tucker actually want to get the other side of this whole situation.

There *IS NO GOOD GUY* in this whole cluster....

Putin has plenty of ways to get his opinions out.

If the EU maintains its obnoxious ways, all Putin’s successor will have to do is to send guns west.

I don’t see the big deal. Putin has given many interviews, is not camera shy, and speaks his mind. Even if it’s all lies, it’s just more data for the hopper to be evaluated. Trying to ‘shut people up’ often has the exact opposite effect as the one intended. And don’t get me started on “EU lawmakers”.

I always find it amusing that they claim someone to be a dictator, while they also act like the dictators they desire to be. I think it’s called envy for the power dictators wield.

That makes Putin smarter than Republicans that are subjected to biased questions, selective editing and confrontational interviews.
