The Panama Canal Is Running Dry:Climate extremes are wreaking havoc on global shipping. [oh, no]

For months, a withering drought has created major traffic jams at the Panama Canal. The drought, which may have been exacerbated by climate change, has left the canal’s water levels lower than ever, forcing Panama to let fewer ships through. The restrictions have led to delays, increased shipping costs, and uncertainty over the future of one of the world’s critical trade chokepoints.

“This has fundamentally changed how shipping through the canal works,” said Soren Stokkebaek Andersen, a regional commercial manager at Leth Agencies, a shipping agency.

Thats curious, the sea levels on both ends of the canal are rising but the canal is running dry.

From memory......

Dredged for deeper drafts.
Doubled volume of transits.......

Did nothing on increasing water reserves/holding lakes.

Designed by Frenchmen.
Finished by Americans.

Trashed by 3rd Worlders......

Bingo!!! Either the seas are rising and this is debunked or they’re not rising and every thing “climate change” is debunked.

There is no such thing as human caused climate change worldwide. There is local climate impact e.g. Chernoble.

Translation: Gatun Lake has been naturally silting in and no longer holds the same quantity of water.

Actually I looked this up…it’s a man made canal, fed by a man made lake then blaming man made global warming?

Read the article. It’s fresh water that’s used to raise the ships. Fresh water doesn’t come from the ocean, at least around here.

I realize that drought can limit the amount of water in the lakes that provide all of water for lockage (sea level rise or lack thereof has nothing to do with it). But didn’t Panama recently open new, larger, deeper locks so that ships larger than Panamax could cross. Could that increase in water draining out of the lakes also be a reason for the current problem?

Hold up…

I thought “climate change!!!” was causing the seas to RISE.
Remember?.. the polar caps are melting and NYC will be under water by 2010!!!

How are they able to sustain this b.s. after years of the opposite if their scare predictions and the constant reversal of their mantras?

It’s basically a problem of bad engineering. But go ahead and blame CO2.

Dredged for deeper drafts.
Doubled volume of transits.......

They also widened the locks and added a third set of locks

A drought and extremely more water usage.

Global Warming has nothing to do with it even if it was a real thing.

The Canal is fed by Lake Gatun, and apparently the over 200 inches of rainfall they have always experienced has decreased significantly. There are no pumps in the canal system.

The canal is entirely gravity fed. There are no pumps.
