Thats right, the US military has no significant tasks in the US proper (unless we are talking about a Civil War). And its very unlikely to have such problems in this hemisphere.
So what is the US military for? Sincere question. I would like to see your answer.
Under these circumstances, its obvious that its structure is designed with the assumption that its principal tasks are to fight wars the next ocean over, or further.
You dont need that kind of money for the border. That is a policy question. If the administration changes its mind on that, your problem will be solved overnight. Thats what this fight is about.

The Spanish military patrols its own border with Morrocco, with paramilitary troops - the Guardia Civil (like the French Gendarmes).
I have lived and worked in the US for almost 40 years. I worked on (as a mechanical engineer, consulting on metrology) some of the weapons systems you seem to want to slaughter civilians with.
You are not being serious, or you seem hysterical. Calm down and think.
