RNC's chief of staff steps down as Trump pushes for shakeup in leadership

The Republican National Committee's chief of staff is set to resign from his position later this month, Politico reported.

Mike Reed has been the RNC's chief of staff since Jan. 2022, but in an email obtained by Politico, he said he's stepping down to focus on his “growing family [that] needs and deserves my attention.”

Sources close to Reed say he's accepted a job with Cornerstone, a government relations and public affairs firm.

“I know the timing of this news comes as many rumors in the press swirl and we prepare to merge with the presumptive nominee. I assure you, the RNC is in an incredibly strong position,” Reed wrote, seemingly responding to rumors that Donald Trump will push for a shakeup in leadership within the committee.

“We always knew there would be some changes once we had a presumptive nominee, and we welcome that,” he wrote. “Chairman [Ronna McDaniel] has had great conversations with President Trump over the last few days and weeks. She will continue to lead this organization to merge seamlessly should he be the nominee.”

The RNC is now a wholly owned subsidiary to the Trump campaign. Rona may stay on as a figure head but Trump runs the show.

Once he’s the nominee, he’s officially head of the party again, and calls all the shots. I hope he fires every person who authorized funds to go to Lisa Murkowski.

I would be surprised if they replaced Ronna McDaniel in a presidential election year. It would be like replacing a baseball manager or football coach during the playoffs.

But then again...maybe that’s exactly what needs to happen.

It’s been done. It’s not that important a position. She’ll be quickly forgotten. People like us can probably remember party chair’s names but most people don’t.

Interesting how may times ‘family needs’ is the excuse used to bail when things start to fall apart. This guy is just the start. When DJT takes the oath of office next January we will see a veritable swarm of vermin streaming out of WDC. Many will be also leaving the country to places with no extradition agreements with the USA just ahead of arrest warrants.

One can hope ...

This is great if they start winning. If a Trump appointee uses the position to get revenge on senators and representatives who he perceives screwed him, the party is going to continue its path into the toilet.

Since 2022 -these problems have been materializing since 2017 after Preibus left and McDaniel took over. He better not just be a scapegoat to signal an appearance of “change” that isn’t really happening.

No Lindsay is far too valuable as a member of DJT’s SC campaign leadership team. Like Ronna, Lindsay is where Trump wants him to be.
