A Michigan suburb with the largest Muslim population in the US has upped its security in fear of hate attacks after it was branded America's 'jihad capital.'
The headline of a Wall Street Journal opinion piece published on Friday read 'Welcome to Dearborn, America's Jihad Capital' - a title given to the city by the publication because of its residents' pro-Palestine stances.
The contentious article was written by Steven Stalinsky, who is a commentator on terrorism and has served as executive director of the Middle East Media Research Institute, based in Washington DC, since 1999.

What's amusing about this is that there are hadiths declaring Mohammad "white" and ordering death to those who resist this Islamic "truth."
I’m close to that area. Dearborn is hard to sum up. It’s the home of Ford Motor Company, which is expanding in the area. Many of these ‘Muslims’ are very Americanized. Of course, there are going to be radicals...and, it only takes a slice of the total to be radical to become a problem. That said, they DO all stick together as a group. This brings political power. The whole Palestine thing is just an excuse to collectively hate Jews, I think most don’t really care.
There have been instances of Christian’s handing out leaflets at Islamic festivals being assaulted. Initially the police behaved like the UK police, arrest the person being assaulted for ‘offense’ because that is easier than dealing with the mob. The courts overturned the charges. The cops got educated. I don’t think we’ve since seen similar instances. Maybe I just haven’t heard.
It just seems like they’re a collective political force that are very Americanized, I don’t see the radicals - although I concede they must exist. We’re not the UK though. Enforcing the rights of others (non-Muslims) is a difference. In the Uk they’ve caved.

Thank you for your illuminating observations. I merely ask if Islamic ‘Call to Prayer’ is obnoxiously blasted over most parts of the city. If that’s allowed then Dearborn is indeed Sharia over U.S. laws and customs.
Had to move to Dearborn in 2004. Lived in the view of Ford World Headquarters, by Fairlane, and could see the Ambassador Bridge and The RenCen on the 3rd floor of our condo. I loved the area in the 90’s. But the area was taken over by the Muslims by the time we moved back. I hated it. Moved as soon as hubby retired and I spent most of my time in Louisville.
