WWI was basically an American War from the perspective of Trade. The United States sold gun powder and components to make artillery and ammunition to both Germany, France, Britian. Only when the United States entered the Great War in 1917, did the trade with Germany end.

DOW CORPORATION was the biggest seller to Germany.

I can remember my father showing me news clippings from the WWI era with trade figures, speculation that Germany would capitulate without US trade.

The US supplied both Iran and Iraq in the early 80’s war through Third Country Sales, e.g., US allies making artillery, shells, ammo carrier trucks, refurbished tanks, etc.

There are no Great or Honorable Nations - there are only Nations with National Interests - which can be military, political, economic/industrial, which encompasses the vast sphere of human interactions. I think I am the one who introduced that into the thread.
