Polish President's Crimea Comments Spark Furious Backlash

Uncertainty expressed by Polish President Andrzej Duda over whether Ukraine was able to retake Crimea has prompted a stern reaction.

Poland has been a staunch ally of Ukraine since the start of the war, pledging aid and equipment for Kyiv's goals against Russian aggression; these include recapturing all of the peninsula Vladimir Putin illegally seized in 2014.

Duda has previously said that all of Ukraine including Crimea must be liberated and, in August, added that whether Kyiv can retain the peninsula was key to preserving the world order.

In an interview with YouTube Channel Zero, Duda said he believed that Kyiv can regain the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, which Vladimir Putin has declared annexed, even though Moscow does not fully control them.

However, Duda told the interviewer, "I don't know if (Ukraine) will regain Crimea." He said that "the Crimean peninsula is a special place... also for historical reasons. Because in fact, if we look historically, it was in Russia's hands for most of the time."

NATO already invoked the Brezhnev Doctrine against Hungary this week. The Poles better shut this guy up and get back in line.

He just had to up and say that and spoil the fantasy for everyone. Couldn't keep his mouth shut for a minute.

Retaking the Crimea would certainly be an historic event but I doubt there will be enough uke soldiers to get it done. There can’t be much of a manpower surplus at present. Then again Putin could die and things could change dramatically.

In either direction.

Yeah, Putin could die and someone like Medvedev takes over, then you will really see a big Russian attack.

The opposition to Putin on this war in Russia is not pacifist. That’s the NeoCon fantasy.

It is extreme nationalists who think Putin is a weak fag for not attacking more massively.

“NATO already invoked the Brezhnev Doctrine against Hungary this week. The Poles better shut this guy up and get back in line.”

Given what NATO and the EU has become, I suspect that many Poles Hungarians are wondering whether it was even worth ending the Cold War. It seems that Poland and Hungary had a couple of decades of freedom but now are having to deal with another BRUTAL regime dictating their lives, or at least trying to do so.

World Order is the problem. How does the world find a way to exterminate the World Order. If I wasn’t on the deathbed, I would become a world traveler. I was pretty enough to hunt WW wreckers. 90 is a bit out of function.

If Trump becomes president, I would predict a cease-fire would be negotiated, and Russia will keep Crimea and some parts of eastern Ukraine. It seems pointless to risk a world war over these regions. Crimea as always been Russian except for the change of boundaries in postwar Soviet Union times when it really didn’t mean much. Russia has its naval bases there.

The real red line in this war is the Dneiper River and all of Ukraine west of that, and also north of Crimea. We certainly should not force Ukraine to cede anything in that large expanse.

This war has become largely pointless and nobody really knows where all the money is going, thousands are dying just to make a few sociopaths wealthy. And yet some neo-cons want to expand the war. I guess they have not made as much as they expected yet.

Andrzej Duda referred to his words on Saturday morning by posting an entry on Twitter. “My actions and position on Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine have been and are clear from day one: Russia violates international law, is an aggressor and an occupier,” he wrote.

“ The Russian attack on Ukraine and the occupation of internationally recognized territories of Ukraine, including Crimea, is a crime. This war cannot end with a Russian victory. Russian imperialism must be stopped, defeated and blocked for the future. Ukraine must win because this war must be won by the Free World,”
