United Airlines flight diverted because Boeing jet had cracked windshield in another flight near-disaster.
A cross-country United Airlines flight was diverted Sunday because the Boeing jet had a cracked windshield, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
United Airlines Flight 1627 had been heading from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC, on Sunday when it made a sharp turn for an unexpected stop, as seen on its path tracked by Flight Aware.
It "landed safely at Denver International Airport in Colorado … after diverting due to a cracked windshield," the FAA said.

Are these a real surge in quality problems, or is it like shark attacks where it feels like there’s a surge but just media events?
DEI.
Fly the faggity skies of United. Buh bye.
I think the problem is the CEO. I think workers are purposely sabotaging their company because of him.
Fly United DEI. No thank you.
🤮🤮🤮. I refuse to call it that. The last time I flew in it was McCarran Intl, and to me it will always be so.
Well to United’s Ceo. all that is important to it, is being a trannsy.
Plane windshields get cracked just like cars. Media silliness.
I agree. Lots of reasons why, none of which we know at this point. (e.g. Bird strike? Hot de-icer on a cold wind screen? Age? Stress crack? Recently serviced?.....)
All it takes is one disgruntled employee. Who doesn’t torque everything correctly.
Who is John Galt?
Somewhere out there there is a documentary about all the stuff that falls off of planes and onto the runway. I think it dealt with Heathrow Airport. That said, Boeing and, to a lesser extent, Spirit AeroSystems ( the manufacturer/supplier, not the airline) are certainly having issues.
The DS is trying to restrict people’s movement and freedom of association in any way they can.
If they can’t outright ban something, they can try to over regulate it out of existence.
If that doesn’t work, then make flying so dangerous that people voluntarily quit flying out of legitimate fear for their safety.
This is something that happens periodically and there are procedures for dealing with it. This means the system worked.
DEI in the front door, GAF out the back door
Safelite repair, Safelite replace.
At least the wings didn’t fall off.
Airlines can start offering an “airster” open air flying experience. Like riding in a convertible. At 400 mph and 35,000 feet, it should be quite exhilarating.
