Perhaps a figurative stone is the weight of the political moderates. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) the senator, as opposed to John Fetterman the candidate, seems to be doing this in a Sen. Joe Manchin-esque (D-W.Va.) manner.
We might want to start calling the 6-foot-8 Fetterman man-Manchin.
Capturing the politically murky middle is a difficult task, particularly in a journalistic environment where extremes get clicks. It nevertheless remains where the majority of votes lie. Manchin has managed to capture them since his arrival to the U.S. Senate.

From time to time, Donald Trump includes the recital about the snake that was rescued by the woman who took pity on the frozen near-dead creature. But in the end, the snake was not the least grateful, and reverted to its true nature, biting and causing the death of its benefactor.
John Fetterman is just such a snake.

I’m completely fine if the Deep State is backtracking on election theft. Don’t see that happening, but I’d be surprised and glad if it did.

I tried to tell folks here back in 2022, Fetterman is not what the idiot flappy headed folks at the RNC and their mouthpieces were parroting to you.
You were sold a bunch of lies by these folks. Yes, he’s a democrat and he’s leftist, but he was never ever the whackadoo extremist left wing nutter they tried to sell him as to you, in an attempt to push the single worst candidate I have ever seen run for statewide office in PA as a republican named OZ.
Fetterman is not a lightweight, and he didn’t “pivot” to purple... this is the same guy who I have met and watched for more than a decade. No I don’t agree with him on policy , but the attempt to paint him as the next AOC, or just a stumble bum lurch charicature were just flat out lies.
Only people “surprised” by this stuff are people who swallowed these lies, anyone whos actually met and seen the man in action is not surprised by any of this.
Maybe next time instead of swallowing wholesale lies by folks who tell you what you want to hear, or more adequately “want you to fear”.. you will be open your mind a bit and actually listen to folks who are on the ground and know something.. rather than just parroting RNC talking point ad nauseam out of DC and NYC.
Had Fetterman actually not had his health issues and been able to campaign properly, OZ would have gone down by 8-10 points on the minimum. It is inexcusable that 100M+ was wasted trying to put lipstick on that pig. The decision by Republican leadership to push that turd, cost the party countless house races where that money would have made a difference.

His voting record is still ultra-liberal and probably always will be until he’s coming up for re-election and the Rats think a few fakes to the right would be advisable.
They might get shook up a little in PA if Empty Suit Casey somehow loses his Senate seat this year (unlikely) and Trump also takes PA (doubly unlikely). But even if they make it close, that might cause Fetterman to persist with his fraudulent “I’m not really a progressive” schtick.
When the time comes, we’ll see who he has fooled.

As someone who has lived in PA for closing in on 40 years, I’ve watched this man since he came on the scene, the crap the RNC and their parrots tried to sell you about this guy were and have been absolute lies.

I don’t agree with this man on policy, but I have seen him in action and watched him since he first showed up in Braddock, and he was NEVER, EVER what they tried to tell you he was....

As annoying as it sounds, it makes sense to have a senator such as this in the State of Philadelphia Pittsburg.
What makes no sense is having purple senators in states as red as West Virginia or South Carolina. (I mean Graham, among many)
With any luck Scott Pressler’s efforts will overcome Fetterman’s pivot.
