An F-16 fighter jet crashed into the sea off South Korea's southwestern coast near the city of Seosan on Wednesday, with a US Air Force pilot safely ejecting from it.
"An F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 8th Fighter Wing here experienced an in-flight emergency over the West Sea and crashed at approximately 8:41 a.m . (2341 GMT) today," the US military said in a statement.
"The pilot ejected safely and was recovered at around 9:30 a.m. He is conscious and was transported to a medical facility for assessment," it added.

The 8th Fighter Wing includes two F-16 squadrons. It experienced another F-16 crash in December. The pilot in that flight experienced problems during a routine training flight and was safely recovered after ejecting the aircraft before it crashed into sea near the port city of Gunsan.
In May 2023, a US F-16 jet crashed during a routine training exercise in a farming area south of Seoul. The pilot had ejected safely and no other casualties were reported.

The Air Force is probably the wokest of the service branches.
The F 16 is as complex a piece of machinery as is known to man and requires the very best and brightest personnel to keep it in the air. Such personnel must be doing what they are doing based upon merit and high test scores NOT skin color or gender or sexual preferences or predilections.
DEI has a price and airplanes falling out of the sky is just one. The next war we will likely get our asses kicked because our front line people are not the best...arguably, many of them are the worst.
In theory, can any engine-powered aircraft that loses power during flight be brought safely to the ground by a “dead stick” landing? Not a pilot but I imagine some craft are much more difficult to land without power than others. And of course, the terrain you are trying to land on matters greatly too.
Only a short time back one of the super-dooper, hugely expensive and brand-spanking new F-35s met a farm field in upstate South Carolina. Mechanical issues, apparently. And then the story went away. Poof. Seems our news media has a very short attention span.
Test to see if spell-check forces DIE to be spelled DEI.

Well, we are talking a piece of machinery that can fail at anytime. In addition, the Falcon is a very old jet (unknown when this exact one was produced). Jets fail, cars fail, trains fail, tractors fail. It’s a machine and not everything that fails is attributable to “DEI.”

Remember the AF asking for locals help? Look today for any continuation of the story, as regards the actual cause and such. Zilch. Poof.
Until DEI is gone, I’ll continue to blame them, unless they can prove otherwise, on a case-by-case basis.
