As I recall, Texas was an independent nation before they joined the Union, with Embassies in Britain and many other nations. When they decided to join the Union, it was with the specific stipulation that they could separate and return to being an independent nation at any time. This should be interesting . . .
REAL Texans must the rue the day and curse their ancestors for joining the Union. Same for Alaska. Screw Hawaii.
“When they decided to join the Union, it was with the specific stipulation that they could separate and return to being an independent nation at any time. “
Not a myth but it changed after the Civil War when Texas was conquered and occupied by Union troops. The state constitution changed after the Civil War.
So no, Texas cannot voluntarily leave the Union.
No that is not accurate. Texas nor any state can secede from United States.
What Texas CAN do is separate into 5 smaller states but that will NEVER happen
No, Texas could divide itself into as many as 5 states but there is no provision for secession from the union.
