The Czech Republic’s government signed an agreement with the United States on Monday to acquire 24 U.S. F-35 fighter jets as part of a deal worth about 150 billion Czech koruna ($6.6 billion), the biggest single purchase for the Czech military.
Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová and U.S. Ambassador Bijan Sabet signed a memorandum of understanding for the deal. The Czechs also signed a letter of offer and acceptance, the final step in completing a contract between the governments, the Czech Defense Ministry said.

The first of the 24 fighter jets should be delivered in 2031, with the rest by 2035. The American aircraft will replace the 14 JAS-39 Gripen fighter jets from Sweden that are currently used by the Czech army.

Lots of Neocons getting RICH now off the Ukraine War. Seems to be paying off for them, although not so much for Ukrainian families...
The first plane is to be delivered in 2031. I am sure they will be very useful at that time. Absurd.
In spite of incessant isolationist paleocon bitching, life goes on

In a side agreement with Moscovia & covering the costs of purchases, the Czech Republic’s government agreed to transfer a ‘few’ to Moscovia.
oh goody even more toys to make a war. seems like the biggest export of the US is war
The Czechs know weapons. Never seen a Czech firearm that wasn’t as good or better than its competition. I’m sure they will use these to great effect.
... it takes 10 years to build an f-35 ??
Waiting list is that long.
I have a CZ 75B chambered for .40 S&W. Good gun, looks good too. Shooter has a hard time hitting center target, though.
Being honest, I am sure that Trump would be bragging that he’d sold these jets to the Czechs. Our government is in the arms business. That’s just a fact these days.
The better weapons that our allies have the stronger our protection.
We also need customers to help keep our ability to manufacture alive, something that is starting to hurt Russia since they are losing customers for their weapons as they are being seen as inferior.
The Czechs will need upgrades in 7 years.
For NOW, they have enough to manage their defense needs -
Fighter: JAS 39 Gripen, L-159A
Helicopter: Mi-17, W-3A, UH-1Y Venom, AH-1Z Viper
Motto(s): Czech: Vzduch je naše moře; “The air is our sea”
Size: 53 fixed-wing aircraft; 46 helicopters
The F-35 was designed in the 1990s. I don’t imagine there will a big role for manned fighters / strike aircraft by 2031. Just my guess FWIW
