Blows my mind how far FreeRepublic has fallen over the decades. There was a day and time in the not-so-distant past, where we would have never seen posts and replies form Russian/Putin apologists. Alas - they have infiltrated even this old bastion of Conservative news and commentary.

It’s one thing to rightly point out Ukrainian corruption (along with everywhere else, including the USA), but to simply dismiss UA claims because they are made by Ukrainians (oh - Biden supports them, so they must all be lying scumbags, right?)...

Sigh.

All the Putinists in your life are critics of your bad decision-making, not the cause of your bad decision-making.

You may be forgetting that in 2019 we witnessed the outrageous attempt by a cabal of Americans and their Ukrainian counterparts to topple the Trump administration.

I have no love for Russia and I am hardly a "Russian/Putin apologist," but there would be some real justice in the world if Alexander Vindman's home country was completely conquered by Russia and vanished from the history books forever.

Russianphile here. Wouldn’t believe a word that comes out of Ukraine. I see no contradiction between being a fervent conservative and being anti Ukraine. Too often I see posts that define RIGHT as being the mirror that shows the poster’s positions. You’re free to have a different opinion than mine. I’m free to have a different opinion than yours. Viva la difference.

If a hoho ever told the truth about anything, his brain would short-circuit and he’d die.

It doesn’t ‘blow my mind.’ I’m so tired of this UKR/RUS thing I could spit. I don’t care one whit one way or the other about Ukraine. Not my war but it is my tax money, my economy, and my border that’s being ignored. But according to many here, I’m an America-hating Putin puffer because of it. Nonsense.

Blows my mind how far FreeRepublic has fallen over the decades.

Both Ukraine and Russia are former Soviet states. Both are founding constituent members of the USSR. Both are sh*thole countries, why care about either of them? We all know why Biden, LtCol Vindman, and Vicky Nuland favor Ukraine. The question is… why do you ?

Well, dearest Battman. there are quite a few of us here on FR who are older than dirt, and may have memories of a time when “relations” between Russia and the USA were much friendlier. After WW2, things did get chilly, however.

The Cold War came about, and our relationship deteriorated further. But, the people of Russia are a good people, as we are, who love their land and their culture.

Perhaps we have more in common with the Russian populace than you think. I am sure they are not always very happy with their leaders, as we are often disgusted by the grift, blackmail, and treason of our leaders.

Black and White thinking about nations, races, ethnic groups, etc. are not productive of progress toward world peace. Given human nature, it is very hard to obtain, but we must try for the future.

Just my thoughts, because there have been so many Republican politicians who have lied to me, fooled me, and betrayed my trust. How can I criticize the leaders of other countries when so many of ours are just as bad.
