In anti-Hamas protest, Gazans call for release of Israeli hostages

Avichay Adraee, the IDF's Arabic-language spokesman, on Wednesday published rare footage of a spontaneous anti-Hamas protest which broke out in Deir al Balah, Gaza.

In their protest, the Gazans called for the release of the Israeli hostages, so as to bring about an end to the Hamas-Israel war.

"Hamas-ISIS leaders, led by [Yahya] Sinwar, listen to the cries of your people - your children, your women - who are expressing their outrage over the situation you have caused Gaza," Adraee wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"They demand that you return the Israeli hostages home, so that the war will end and they can return home.

"Do these cries and demands reach the hiding places of the Hamas leaders?" he queried.

There can be miracles, when you believe. Enough Hamas-niks have been killed, and they're enough on the defensive, that it's now safe to protest them.

I see. And the Arabic-language liaison for the IDF is enabling this “trap”. He’s in on it? Or he lacks your insights and is a naive dupe?

Yup, I don’t trust them.

And even if the hostages are released, Israel needs to keep going to completely eradicate hamas and it’s tunnel network.

“Yup, I don’t trust them.”

Trust? Gaza is fragmenting, and a portion of the populace has turned against them. That is major, whether or not you “trust” the demonstrators.

It is possible that Hamas has sent them out to “demonstrate” in order to probe for an off-ramp to end the hostilities against them, because they’re losing; release the hostages. But that itself is major, and even though it would be foolish to declare victory while one Hamas-nik is still breathing outside of Qatar, it is major that Hamas is sending someone out to trial-baloon-ify that option, if that’s what this is.

I agree completely. I also see it as a tactic to get Israel to back off becuase they are taking such a beating.

I didn’t say it wasn’t significant, just that I don’t trust them.

The war isn’t ending until every single one of the Hamas people are dead.

Don't stop there. Most of the Gaza populace are complicit in the Hamas terror activities. Interrogate the populace, one by one, and put them to work leveling the rest of Gaza. The ones who are found guilty of complicity should be imprisoned or hung. The northern third should become farmland, the southern third should become a hard labor camp, and the central third developed by Israel as a tourist destination. All controlled by Israel. Any terrorist activity by Gazans to result in becoming a resident of the hard labor camp.

I wouldn’t believe the Gazans for any amount of money. They were totally complicit in keeping hostages captive, recapturing escapees, etc. Nope. Burn them all to cinders.

Believe, shmelieve. There’s evidence of fragmentation. Same as with Fetterman. He’s dissenting from the leftards, even if it’s a put-on to get votes. So the Gazans are demonstrating against Hamas. “Divide and conquer.” Assuming it’s just a put-on, there are bound to be a few real dissenters, and they can be turned. Shabak is already busy. They probably already have a few turned. It’s a good thing.

The best thing to happen for the people of Gaza is to get them to leave. If that’s not possible, then they need to build a new prison similar to what Nayib Bukele built in El Salvador for MS-13 gangsters.

Previously, the southern border of Gaza, the Philadelphi Corridor, had a string of Jewish settlements, who also kept watch for arms smugglers and infiltrators. When Sharon forcibly removed them, the border with the Sinai became wide open. A hard labor camp would not fill that bill. Just bring back the evicted Philadelphi Corridor (Gush Katif) settlers, and give them the latest in defensive and surveillance equipment.

A “hard labor camp” would not happen. It’s a pipe dream. You can’t punish a whole culture, any more than you could punish the whole South for the KKK or all of Germany for the Nazis, or all of China for the Uighers and Tibet. Change the education system, integrate Ghaza. It was a terrible mistake to evict the settlers. The only hope for changing the Palestinians is regular contact with Jews for employment and in daily life. Germans and the Japanese are not the same as they were in the 1940s, because being unequivocally defeated and then occupied will cause a paradigm shift.

No! Gazan residents were employed by Jews. Given passes into Israel and given work in Israel. The employed Gazans spied on Israelis, drew maps of kibbutz and information on residents and their activities. This was all fed back to Hamas leaders who then used the information to do their invasion of Israel. The slaughter of Jews on October 7th would not have been so bad if not for the precise information by the employed Gazan spies.

Israel should never again employ any Gazan residents in Israel!

That’s after 20 years of isolation, while ruled over with an iron hand by Hamas, and only seeing Jews during military encounters, then suddenly getting a chance to spy on them for the glory of Islam. I’m talking about after the total defeat of Hamas and their eradication, and years into the future, after Gush Katif has been re-settled and Gazans become used to the idea that Jews are not demons out to annihilate all Muslims and harvest their organs for evil experiments, but actual human beings who mean them no harm, and when they are friendly are actually just being friendly, not trying to catch them alone and use their blood for matzah.

What you’re saying is that the Germans of 1934 would be the same as the Germans of 2004. In between, there was a radical paradigm shift in 1946 caused by Hitler’s Germany’s total defeat and ruination, and decades for that to percolate and for the people to evolve under its influence, and renewed exposure to, and interaction with, Jews, not just racist caricatures of them as octopi with long tentacles and big noses and shlongs.

I must disagree with your vision, or lack thereof.

I said no such thing, you’re making things up. You’re a syncophant of the Hamas butchers, and trying to sugarcoat the muslims in Gaza.

The Germans are no where similar to the muslim Arabs, who want to subjugate all non-muslim peoples.

I said no such thing, you’re making things up.

You implied it by extension.

” You’re a syncophant of the Hamas butchers, and trying to sugarcoat the muslims in Gaza.”

I live in Israel. I’ve had to repeatedly go into our building’s air raid shelters, and my wife occasionally helps out at the army bases. If you bother to read my post with any comprehension at all, you’ll note that I’m advocating the total defeat of Hamas.

“The Germans are no where similar to the muslim Arabs, who want to subjugate all non-muslim peoples.”

The Germans in 1934 wanted to subjugate all non-Germans. The German-speaking Amish, however, were not on board with these plans. Almost no Germans want to do this now, except for a few loons. They caught up with the Amish.

Right now there are many Muslim Arabs who want to subjugate all non-Muslim people. Defeating them will serve to discredit them. Defeating the Third Reich discredited the Nazis, and after half a century of occupation, putting the worst of them on trial for crimes against humanity, and radically altering the education in Germany served to discredit and all but eradicate Nazism.

The same process worked in Japan, after the Emperor announced Japane’s surrender and disavowed any claims of divine descent, and again, totally defeating the Japanese, radically changing the education system and occupying Japan for over half a century.

This process has worked twice. Russia, left to its own devices, is now resurgent with reactionary nationalism and dreams of restoring their empire.

It may yet work in Gaza. Your notion of just keeping them segregated forever and a day is in effect saying that they cannot change, as the Germans and Japanese did, and as Russia might have under different circumstances.

Most Germans and Japanese are now deeply ashamed of their forbears’ delusions of racial superiority. The same can be accomplished with the Gazans, though I qualify that as a possibility.

It’s worth a try. The Ibrahimi sect of Suffi Islam believes that Jihad is to be waged internally. They are analogous to the Amish, a marginal minority. But other Muslims might well catch up with them, too.

Your effort to differentiate radical Islam from Nazism and Japanese imperialism has not worked.

Now go...ad hominem-ize yourself. “Sycophant” my arse.

I didn't imply any such thing.

You are simply rude and insulting. When someone insults me, I respond in kind. So get off your pedestal and do some self-searching.

I have a German ancestry. Are you insinuating that Germans are the same as muslim Arabs? Islam wants other peoples to submit to Islam. Do you think Germans want others to submit to them. BS. You gloss over what really happened prior and during WWII, saying Germans and Japanese had delusions of racial superiority. Not so.

The German leadership under Hitler rallied troops who felt humiliated by the outcome of WWI. The Japanese military leaders likewise wanted retribution against Chinese for past Chinese military campaigns and Chinese delusions of racial superiority against Japan. European and Asian peoples have had many battles between neighbors for thousands of years.

You can't appease Muslim Arabs and expect them to embrace Israelis as friends. Naive, will not happen.
