GOP looks for Plan B on Ukraine with border bill looking DOA

GOP supporters of aid to Ukraine are beginning to look for a Plan B as they come to grips with the reality that Senate legislation to boost border security and deal with a host of foreign crises is dead in the House.

The virulent conservative opposition to the bill has led some Republican senators to speculate about moving military aid for Ukraine without any attached border reforms.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) say they are committed to bringing the package linking money for Ukraine with border security reforms to the Senate floor, but senators say both realize it has little to no prospect of making it to President Biden’s desk.

Senate Republicans think that’s why McConnell floated the idea of possibly delinking Ukraine money and border security during a meeting Wednesday by telling colleagues that it will be a heavy lift to pass a border security package in the middle of a Republican presidential primary.

“It’s probably done in the sense that I don’t think the House is going to be for the end product, and I think it’s clear where the nominee of our party’s going to be,” said Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.), referring to former President Trump’s efforts to derail Senate the border security bill.

A GOP senator who requested anonymity to talk about internal party dynamics said McConnell knows that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) won’t bring the bill to the House floor.

The senator said Trump, who opposes the Senate’s border bill, has “a lot of influence on the House and particularly on Johnson.”

“If he takes [the Senate] up, I think he’s a goner,” the lawmaker added.

A Senate Republican aide said McConnell appears to be looking for an “off-ramp” to separate Ukraine funding from border security legislation.

The only thing the GOP can reliable find is donor money.

President Trump deserves another peace prize for stopping the Ukraine war before he is even re-elected. No soup for you!

Want money for Ukraine, remove the last 10 million illegals that Biden let into country. Build the wall. Reduce all immigration to 0 for a decade. That’s a start

Knowing that has zero possibility, I think these, and almost all, major issues should be dealt with individually.

Last 10 million?

Remove ALL illegal aliens and complete the entire border wall. No exceptions, no negotiations. No Green Cards without Jobs, NO Green Cards without taxes and self support. Legal immigration channels only. No voting, no welfare, no emergency room care (unless they buy health insurance) for illegals. No illegal immigration for 10 years.

The American people need to make note of this — it is an unequivocal demonstration of fedgub’s disinterest in serving the America people and determination to serve globalist bosses.

I will not send a dime to any Republicans other than MTG, Thomas Massie or Rand Paul if any one Republican or group of Republicans vote to send money to Ukraine.

Winred Is Warned!

Dave McCormick here in Pennsylvania is warned my support for him hangs on telling the folks in DC for Ukraine.

And Biden thinks he is going to run on “It’s the Republicans fault” when it comes to the border. Good luck with that.

Dont be fooled.

Biden wants tax dollars for “border security” but he doesnt mean the “border security” we demand.

Far from it.

Biden wants tax dollars in order to facilitate more and more migrants jumping the border, and releasing them into our communities without so much as a slap on the wrist......and to expand the migrant hordes swilling at the govt trough on our dime.

Sadly, McConnell is almost always looking for a way to cave-in.

Amazing. They only cared about the border to the extent that it helps Ukraine.

Any Republican that agrees to give a penny more for the war in Ukraine or refuses to pass legislation that will secure the border unconditionally MUST be defeated.

Thank You for that I am pretty sick of all elected officials in the 95 percent plus range right now at all levels.

JD Vance took an interest in the Ohio train derailment clearly linked to corporate-government collusion that is very much a force with Ukraine aid $$$ laundered to defense contractors.
