Did anyone address the particular reasons for layoffs?
Has their circulation declined? If so do they have any awareness of why nobody wants to read that newspaper anymore? Maybe they could do some things to increase circulation both printed and internet subscriptions?
Just wondering if anyone at that newspaper has thought about what’s causing their financial problems.
The LA Times was purchased by a billionaire who then basically handed over control to his leftist daughter, to be her personal plaything. I think daddy has grown tired of the losses though.

Since the Times hires only from the “more diverse” groups, then naturally the lay-offs will affect those groups the most.
It seems the unstated opinion presented by the people interviewed for the story is that the paper deserves to published because it serves the political needs of the Democrat Party. But I guess even left wing investors get tired of losing money.
Milk is racist.
Diversity in layoffs. I thought diversity was a good thing. But such a sad story. I’m grief stricken.
The fact there are caucuses indicates not diversity but segregation
The union is a group of segregated minorities
I can’t speak for everyone who went to journalism school, however, I have a coworker who did. They are by far the most useless person I have ever met who thinks they are the smartest person in the world.
They work PT a couple days each week at one of the local alphabet TV stations. Everything in their world revolves around the fact that they went to a journalism degree, even if it has no relation to the topic at hand.
As an example, any emails from them are written at like a third grade level like a novel and are at least a page long when in the business world the sameemail would be maybe a paragraph and a half a dozen bullet points. You literally have to read their emails two or three times to make sure you figured out what they were trying to say and they get all upset when you respond in a short, concise manner and talk about what they do at work at a TV station
L.A. and the state would be better off if they denounced diversity chiefs as they currently exist. I have never seen, in person or on TV, a diversity chief other than black - that’s outrageous and should be corrected. Diversity would be more effective as a talking point if it included other races, but it seems to be only blacks who benefit.
When I see Cheech Marin as a spokesperson for diversity, I’ll pay more attention!
Dying DEI...
I would be more upset if a cigarette plant were suffering layoffs.

The feds were all set shut down menthol cigarette sales and production. At the last minute they decided to delay enforcement of the ruling… until after the election!
