Snow Removal Time!

An equipment operator with the Fort McCoy snow-removal team clears snow Jan. 16, 2024, at Fort McCoy, WI. When that happens, the Fort McCoy snow-removal team plows through whatever Mother Nature dishes out. The team includes contractor Kaiyuh Services LLC and Directorate of Public Works personnel and many others. The team helps keep more than 400 miles of roads, sidewalks, and parking areas clear so the Fort McCoy workforce can operate safely. (U.S. Army Photo by Scott T. I know being a drill instructor is hard, very hard, work, but sometimes it seems like it must be a lot of fun too!

I’m not sure if this is the place for this or not, I’ve seen this thread, but never dropped in.

On Sunday January 14th, my dear nephew/friend/hang passed away from a seizure.

He’d suffered three while on active duty and was released from duty (terminal leave at the time). He’d attained Ranger Status and was looking towards Green Beret when the seizures disqualified him.

He comes from a family of Army - Mother, Army Nurse; Father, Ranger; Brother, Green Beret; Brother 1st SFOD-D/CAG.

He was a wonderful man, a Patriot, and a Christian.

His loss has left a hole in our family that will never fully heal.

I appreciate you doing these threads.

I usually check them out but don’t reply as much as I should.

During the Afghan war I was a Red Cross volunteer at Walter Reed on the amputation ward.

My respect for our military went through the roof and is NEVER coming down!!!

Thank you for your posts.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...are you done with the ice? Or do you need an ark?

Never got up to zero at my house today. Finally got the heat inside up to 68. But I have a space heater on my feet.

Today it was 37 and rainy, but as the sunset it got colder.

I expect vast sheets of ice tomorrow.

January 25

Strange Places

Bible in a Year :

Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?

Esther 4:14 God, why is this happening? Is this really your plan for us?

As a husband and a dad of young children, those questions and more swirled in my mind as I wrestled with a serious cancer diagnosis. What’s more, our family had just served with a missions team that had seen many children receive Jesus as their Savior. God had been bringing forth evident fruit. There was so much joy. And now this?

Esther likely poured out questions and prayers to God after she was plucked from a loving home and thrust into a strange new world (Esther 2:8). Her cousin Mordecai had raised her as his own daughter after she’d been orphaned (v. 7). But then she was placed in a king’s harem and eventually elevated to serve as his queen (v. 17). Mordecai was understandably concerned about what “was happening to” Esther (v. 11). But in time, the two realized that God had called her to be in a place of great power “for such a time as this” (4:14)—a place that allowed for her people to be saved from destruction (chs. 7–8).

It’s evident that God providentially placed Esther in a strange place as part of His perfect plan. He did the same with me. As I endured a lengthy battle with cancer, I was privileged to share my faith with many, many patients and caregivers. What strange place has He led you to? Trust Him. He’s good, and so are His plans (Romans 11:33–36).

Reflect & Pray

When has God led you to a strange place? Why can you trust in His perfect plans?

Dear God, help me to trust You even when I don’t understand what You’re doing.

For further study read A Place for Doubt in a Growing Faith.

Good evening, lizma2...I can only imagine the respect that bering a volunteer in the amputation ward for our most injured military must have fostered.

We thank you for your service to our military men and women.

Hey radu, how are your temps going? We're finally back to normal temps and snowfall and it feels good!

I don't even remember what I did last weekend but I'm sure it was good, LOL.

How are things your way?

Howdy, PRO!

Good to hear things have returned to normal up there. Feels good, doesn’t it?

It’s pretty warm here this week but REALLY wet today. It rained hard all day and will again tomorrow. We’ll take it!
We’ll cool off this weekend but to 40s and low 50s rather than teens and 20s. I’ve had MORE than enough of THAT! LOL
