The British Army needs to be prepared to “rapidly expand” to field a “citizen army”, its top general said, praising European states for bringing back conscription and saying “we must similarly prepare”.
We are now living in the “prewar generation” and it is time to take “preparatory steps to enable placing our societies on a war footing”, Chief of the General Staff General Sir Patrick Sanders told the International Armoured Vehicles Conference in Twickenham, England, on Wednesday morning. Limited elements of the speech were trailed in the Daily Telegraph in advance, characterising them as a warning that the public faces “call-up if we go to war, military chief warns”.

Say Hello to Peter Seller’s for me.
I’d rather we don’t get our hair mussed.
“ Which is a valid argument for launching a full and devastating pre-emptive nuclear strike on Ruzzia.”
I have a better suggestion, If you want peaceful world, free of totalitarianism, fascism and communism the best move would be just to use one nuclear weapon, over Washington D.C….just make sure it’s done when the American political elite is all in town.
“I’m a Russian agent !”
Okay.
“I’d rather we don’t get our hair mussed.”
I’d rather the Ruzzians give up their delusions of reconquering their past empires.
The only way to deter the Ruzzian dictator (or any dictator) is to take a position of strength against him.
Period.
Sic semper tyrannis.
As well as not bear-baiting.
Biden and Globohomo are bear-baiting from a position of weakness.
With the aim of killing as many wypepl as possible.
“As well as not bear-baiting.”
Bears are nothing to fear so long as you:
1. Bring enough gun.
2. Kill them with the first shot.
Smart bears don’t mess with people who follow these two guidelines.
You apparently missed my second sentence, the the post you replied to.
No, I chose to ignore your second sentence because it is at odds with the fact that Russia (the bear) chose to attack.
It is no more Russia’s business that Ukraine or Finland or Sweden would join NATO than it is mine that you might join AARP or register Democrat.
I might disapprove but it’s not a justification for me to invade your country, rape your women, kidnap your children, and declare your land as mine.
If Ukraine joining NATO in fear of a Russian invasion provoked a Russian invasion then their fears were justified.
Further, since Russia likes to start wars then when they threaten nuclear war it makes sense to take them seriously and any moves they make that look like they’re getting ready to launch missiles should be met with a devastating pre-emptive attack.
OK, you’re either an idiot or troll: because your attempted syllogism contains a nonsequitur.
Geopolitics on a national level does not bear comparison to joining a left of center lobbying group.
And Russia is sensitive to being invaded from the West, see also Napoleon and/or WW 2.
“And Russia is sensitive to being invaded from the West”
I’m all broke up about their feelings.
This is why the 19th should be repealed.
You cannot distinguish between emotions and policy.
And applaud that flaw in others, even when considering nuclear war.
“This is why the 19th should be repealed.”
I support repealing the 19th.
As to the rest we disagree.
