EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is pushing back and adding more razor wire to the border fence after Monday's Supreme Court ruling that the border patrol can remove the wire along the southern border.
So far, the border patrol in the borderland has not cut down any of the razor wire.
In the meantime, Abbott says he won’t back down despite the Supreme Court’s ruling, and for now, plans to continue to secure the border however he wants to.
“What Governor Abbott is doing is not just unconstitutional, and it’s not just harmful to very vulnerable people, but it is impairing the border patrol's ability to do their job, and it’s the border patrol that is trained and equipped to address migration,” said Congresswoman Veronica Escobar.
Speaking in El Paso Monday, Escobar said she believes Abbott is out of line for adding more razor wire just a day after the Supreme Court issued the ruling.
Abbott posted on X saying, “The Texas National Guard continues to hold the line”
Texas law enforcement in Eagle Pass was also seen putting up more wire on Tuesday.

Yessss!
When Texas acts, DHS and Coahuila reacts
The Zetas control most of Coahuila (one of 31 Mexican states); human traffickers operate there, particularly in Saltillo.
After the Supreme Court ruling, the media descended to Eagle Pass to witness Border Patrol cutting the wire and allowing immigrants in.
However, the real story is that migrant arrivals to Piedras Negras have been reduced by 50% or more after the meetings between Mexican and US officials. Migrants have been bused or flown from Northern Mexico to Southern Mexico. There is no one crossing at Shelby Park for Border Patrol to cut any wire!
There’s 500-600 daily crossings. So, where did the migrants go?
They have been spread out, moving either south or north being crossed at ranches and private property. Areas that have been dormant are once again active.
Groups are making their way and turning themselves in to Border Patrol out in the field where there is no wire to cut and no presence of National Guard or Texas DPS.
Among those is a family from Honduras with the mother due in 8 days to have her anchor baby. A major debris field is building up where they are crossing.
The fight is not at Shelby Park. The real fight is in Washington DC.
Double Thumbs UP! Go TEXAS!
I would string the wire down the middle of the river.
Abbott is not defying the SC. All the SC said was the Border Patrol can cut the razor wire. Their finding didn’t say a dang thing about Texas not putting any more up.
(Cue the HALLELUJAH Chorus!)
They are just waiting for a LEADER to appear.
PS
So is the rest of the world.
If more than anything, John Roberts is an institutionist. I would have thought he would have punted on the border issue.
The court’s ruling did not address what Texas may or may not do.
The ruling only gave CBP permission to cut the razor wire.
