Haley campaign says in memo to ‘take a deep breath’: ‘We aren’t going anywhere’

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign is urging supporters in a new memo to “take a deep breath” amid New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary, assuring “we aren’t going anywhere” as Haley goes head-to-head with former President Trump in the Granite State.

“The political class and the media want to give Donald Trump a coronation. They say the race is over,” Haley’s campaign manager, Betsy Ankney, wrote in the memo. She noted Trump’s win in last week’s Iowa caucuses, where Haley came in a distant third place — but highlighted that only 110,000 Iowans had weighed in on the contest.

“That isn’t how this works,” Ankney said. “And while members of Congress, the press, and many of the weak-kneed fellas who ran for president are giving up and giving in — we aren’t going anywhere.”

Deep State won't allow Haley to drop out because if for some reason Trump is tossed from the ballots, the Republican Party bylaws say that the next highest vote-getter becomes the party nominee.

Since DeSantis and Ramaswamy have dropped out, that leaves Haley as the next highest vote-getter.

If Haley drops out, the bylaws say that the Republican Party leadership chooses the nominee.

That is not how it works.

Delegates are chosen. The Trump delegates will be at the convention.

They are free to vote their own preference if President Trump is not in the race.

The “news” coverage on this is further evidence that stopping Trump is not the main thing it is the only thing. They made a huge deal about the handful of goofballs who voted for Haley at midnight. Watching the news you would think Haley is only a few points down.

Hahahhahaha. The political class and media are doing everything they can to prop you up Haley… not Trump.

Mine is the 28th response and not one single word of support for Haley. I’ve never seen anyone here promote her.

What happens after the National Convention?

Read Rule 8:

How many in New Hampshire's 2020 Republican primary?

The delegates get to vote—that is Rule 9.

Read it again.

This happens after the National Convention has ended.

It says the COMMITTEE is authorized to choose the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, or the committee can reconvene the National Convention.

Convention delegates are not National Committee members.

RULE No. 9
Filling Vacancies in Nominations

(a)The Republican National Committee is hereby authorized and empowered to fill any and all vacancies which may occur by reason of death, declination, or otherwise of the Republican candidate for President of the United States or the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States, as nominated by the national convention, or the Republican National Committee may reconvene the national convention for the purpose of filling any such vacancies.

(b) In voting under this rule, the Republican National Committee members representing any state shall be entitled to cast the same number of votes as said state was entitled to cast at the national convention.

(c) In the event that the members of the Republican National Committee from any state shall not be in agreement in the casting of votes hereunder, the votes of such state shall be divided equally, including fractional votes, among the members of the Republican National Committee present or voting by proxy. (d) No candidate shall be chosen to fill any such vacancy except upon receiving a majority of the votes entitled to be cast in the election.

The scenario you are envisioning in this:

(1) Convention nominates candidate X.
(2) After convention candidate X can no longer run (for whatever reason)

The National Committee then gets to choose whether to reconvene the convention or just pick somebody.

That is always a risk.

They could pick Donald Duck to run.

The worst part of Birdbrain hanging around is that she’s going to be bankrolled by the wealthiest deep state donors at perhaps a dozen fundraisers already lined up beginning next week in NY.

Meanwhile, I understand that the RNC is essentially broke under the incompetent Ronna McDaniel.

Ordinarily, a presidential nominee’s campaign has to coordinate with the party’s national committee in order to have any chance to foot the bill for a successful election.

As things stand right now, our side doess’t have a prayer to oust Brandon (or whomever) much less retain the House and regain the Senate.
