Google engineer found in catatonic state and 'spattered with blood' after reportedly beating his wife to death inside their $2 million Santa Clara home

A man has been charged with murdering his Google Engineer wife after he was found 'staring blankly' into space with her dead body nearby.

Police arrested Liren Chen, 27, who also works for Google, on January 16 at a home on Valley Way, Santa Clara.

He has been charged with murder but his arraignment was postponed after he was hospitalized.

Chen was found 'spattered with blood' with an 'extremely swollen and purple arm' kneeling outside a bedroom where his wife was 'deceased on the floor'.

His wife, thought to be Xuanyi Yu, had 'severe blunt force injuries to her head', according to Santa Clara District Attorney.

Santa Clara police officers went to the house around 11am on January 16, after receiving a welfare call.

When they arrived, a friend of Chen told officers he was 'concerned' about the couple and said Chen was 'refusing to answer his phone or his door'.

He told officers he could see Chen inside the home where he was 'motionless on his knees, had his hands in the air and was staring blankly'.

The officers went into the house and arrested Chen.

The district attorney's office said they found his wife's body in the bedroom 'directly behind' where Chen had been standing.

'Officers located the victim deceased on the floor. She had severe blunt force injuries to her head,' they said.

'Chen’s right hand was extremely swollen and purple. He had blood on his clothing, legs, arms, and hands and scratches on his arm.'

Chen and Yu bought a home at 714 Valley Way in April last year for $2.05 million, according to property records.

District Attorney Jeff Rosen said 911 calls for domestic violence have risen.

The problem is, fifteen minutes later, he felt like killing his wife again.

Incredible, huh? Looking at that photo, all I could think of is "One of those crummy houses is worth over 2 million freakin' dollars??

That's The People's Republik of California for ya.

We know of several Californians who left over the past 5+ years and bought actual mansions in the southeast US with their profits from selling their houses in CA.

These are the people who design the algorithms that limit free speech.

That is what they do for a living.

A guy pulling 800K in SV pays for this with his health and sanity.

Checking current listings at Santa Clara Zillow 2million gets you 3Br 3Ba 1500-1800 sq ft. A very normal suburban house.

Not a palace but not a closet.

“I consider myself very lucky to get out of there alive.”

I hear ya! I went 35 years without ever getting laid off. I was in the much more stable energy industry. Then jumped to tech for 15 years and that was absolutely brutal with three layoffs and one divestiture. All in Silicon Valley.

“According to his Linkedin, Chen worked on the YouTube shorts algorithm for Google”

Good, I don’t see the need for ‘shorts’ and cannot stand YouTube pushing them. Hopefully Google learns a lesson now.

Yeah but nobody said "Sum Ting Wong" either. So that's something.

He’s not insane - he’s a killer. Good try with the ‘crazy’ bit - but that’s not how the legal system works. Enjoy prison loser.
