Why Aren’t Republicans Going All-In On A Winnable House Race?
Daily Caller ^ | 1/17/24 | ADELE MALPASS

The Feb. 13 special election in New York’s 3rd congressional district matters. Special elections can set the tone for a general election, create momentum for the winning party and provide an opportunity to test messages and ideas on actual voters. They also test voter enthusiasm and a party’s ability to get out the vote in a low-turnout situation. It matters especially for Republicans, as it could bolster their razor-thin majority in Congress.

This is a fair fight to replace George Santos, and both parties have put forward formidable candidates. On the Republican side, Mazi Melesa Pilip is a state representative who in 2021 flipped a purple district from blue to red. She is a black, Jewish mother of seven who was born in Ethiopia, immigrated to Israel, was with the IDF and then legally immigrated to the U.S. She’s a fresh face with an impressive background — but doesn’t have the knowledge on issues as much as her Democratic opponent Tom Suozzi.

[snip]

With a month to go, this special election will test whether Republicans can win over the crucial voting block of suburban voters – without them, they won’t win the White House in 2024. It’s also a test of whether the issues of crime, immigration and a weak economy mean more to the voters than the name-calling of being a MAGA Republican against abortion.

This is something I've wondered myself. There are districts the GOP could pick up but the RNC are putting little to no resources in those districts.

So,I'm back to thinking the GOP doesn't want the House or the Senate and prefer to remain in the minority where they can just make excuses and requests for money while stating, "Next time, we promise we will do better".

They definitely don't want to win if Trump becomes President because then they may have to support his policies and they really don't want to do that. Remember how they stymied Trump when the voters had given them both the House and the Senate for the first two years of his presidency? They wasted two years and accomplished nothing because they were too busy fighting the President. The masks really fell off for those two years culminating with demands that every mask up for the final year of Trump's Presidency.

The GOP wants to make sure that the Democrats have big power in the legislative branch so that Trump can’t do anything after he wins.

Because the GOP and the democrats are two sides of the same coin. Everything else is an illusion.

The RNC is worthless, that’s why. And so is the GOP Congressional Campaign Committee.

Easier to keep your job if you’re in the minority. You can always blame the majority for your issues.

Same reason that they did not stop the STEAL,,,not once, but twice in Georgia, thus loosing not only the Presidency but the Senate as well.
I don’t identify with the Rrrrrr party anymore
Losers no soup for them.

Winning winnable House Races empowers MAGA and Trump.

That endangers the #PedoDementoCorruptoDemonocracy.

They fear Trump will be elected. If Trump wins, they want to be sure the House will begin impeachment on day 1.

Agree - the GOP is a farce that makes money off promising something they never intend to do.

Yup. At least half of the GOP and RNC are Deep State. They're perfectly happy being in the minority with the Dems running the show. Actually prefer it.

It would be a good idea if the RNC would replace Ronna Romney with Scott Presler. This week.

Mazi Melesa Pilip

““The fact that she’s a Democrat, that actually could be a plus because that is more of a Democratic district,” former Republican Rep. Pete King said in an interview.”

The Stupid Party.
