Considering it’s one of the most violent cities in the world, why is this news?

Nothing new, people there are known for losing their heads and getting eaten up with hostility and anger.

A little more violent than usual I guess but they taxed government workers and the cops and military to some extent went on strike leading to this.

When I was in the Navy the Taxes on my paycheck made me angry as well. It is like being given something by the right hand only to have the left hand come and take it away.

How soon before they start pouring over the southern border?

Ecuadorians already are - a lot of them.

Daily Mail:

“Ecuadorians are flooding to US as country descends into civil war: More than 100,000 migrants from cartel gangland entered America in 2023 - 370 PERCENT more than 2022”

I practice Travel Medicine among other things. I advise people going to exotic destinations.

I’m pretty sure PNG and Port Moresby especially is West Africa violent without any safe zones.

I was talking with a woman who made a few business trips to PNG. Car meets you at the airport, armed guards, stop for nothing.
