Central Florida Lawmakers Advance Bill To Reverse Ron DeSantis' Takeover Of Disney Theme Park District Board
DEADLINE ^ | January 06, 2024 | Ted Johnson

A group of Florida state legislators voted on Friday to move forward with a bill that would reverse Governor Ron DeSantis' successful effort last year to strip the Walt Disney Co. of control of a special district that oversees the company's theme park properties.

But the bill has long odds in getting very far in the Republican-controlled Florida legislature.

That said, Sen. Linda Stewart, a Democrat whose district includes parts of Orange County, said that the bill "begins the conversation" by saying that the process to replace the board "was rushed."

"We are paying the price for that rushed decision," Stewart said, citing the exodus last year of dozens of staffers who worked at the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

"There are just things out there that are falling apart," she said. "This is not the way that we should be treating our Disney people," noting the company's influx of tax dollars.

Unless I’m mistaken Disney is an important part of the state’s economy. But,OTOH,it is clearly an utterly depraved organization.

So, Democrats are advancing a bill to give Disney absolute immunity. Disney can resume being above the law and screw Florida, as long as certain people get their payola.

Give Disney whatever it wants because it is important to the economy. Other companies that are important to the economy? Screw them.

“Our Disney people”. Does this woman work for Disney or for the taxpayers? Disney has a 20 year, $578 million tax break over 20 years that is still in place. Shame on her.

At least two republicans running for for president would rather keep the Disney groomer taxpayer grift going. Because it’s good for the economy … the transgender medical establishment is big money.
It is consistent with both th of their responses to the COVID big pharma payouts.

This has nothing to do with Trump. It has to do with a weakened Governor who isn’t paying attention.

Disney World use to be a fine example of how a private organization could run things that are usually tasked to Government. Trash collection, Fire Department etc. Everything woke turns to S.
