As a scientist with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Frances Kelsey single-handedly prevented thalidomide, a drug now infamous for causing horrific birth defects, from reaching patients in the United States. Today, 70 years later, we Americans are fortunate to have thousands of people like Dr. Kelsey working across the federal government to protect us not just from dangerous pharmaceuticals, but also from banks that might cheat us out of our hard-earned money and from employers who think nothing of risking their workers’ lives.
Instead of being celebrated, though, our public servants find themselves the target of escalating political attacks.

Anything The Hill is for, I’m against.
We already have Juneteenth.
Speaker Johnson should float the idea of calling January 6 ‘Ashli Babbitt Day’.
Let the swamp suck on that for awhile.
Why not.
You know [they] already made Ashley Babbitt’s murderer their idol...
Not to mention that [they] are already the power behind the curtains,
ie. the controllers of The Teleprompter... and the EneMedia “Sources”...
Some public servants are great, some not so much. Some have done great good, some great harm. Some don’t get enough credit, some get too much and a public holiday for public servants is a little too much. Public servants have a holiday just like every other worker and that holiday is Labor Day.
No. Make Nov 4 a national holiday.
Citizens don’t worship public servants.
I’m flying our Flag at Half Mast for Ashli Babbitt Day, today.
The latest meme.
SJ Mercury News had a headline about this a couple of days ago - how election workers are “qutting in droves!” because of anxiety and supposed threats.
This is all just hyper hystericization to kill any criticism of the upcoming elections when the games start being played.
Outrageous. Civil disobedience and sabotage on that day should be the appropriate response.
God bless you, and any other patriots who do the same.
We have to make sure that Ashli is never forgotten.
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence
All hail bloated government, and our deep-state masters.
Hey Jimmy! Are you personally going to pay the salaries of employees who worked for our extremely-bloated Federal government? No? Then neither will I. Case closed. Another stupid idea halted.
Yeah, the EPA just bought $3,000,000 worth of arms and ammo. The Freakin’ EPA. Does anyone think our Fed gov hasn’t turned into a tyrannical monster?
We already are honoring them by making it impossible to fire their asses.
Poor poor pitiful me.
Oh, for crying out damn loud!! These fools get rich and tread the hallways of power and live to be 110.
We can do it as long as we make January 7 a holiday honoring “STUMP BROKE” mules and jackasses in Washington D.C.
“In honor of public servants?”
Do they mean, in honor of public servants like the one that shot Ashli Babbitt in cold blood?
