As the fighting in Ukraine continues, some representatives in Congress, primarily Republicans, oppose additional financial and military support for Ukraine’s resistance to Russia’s ongoing invasion.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has said he has reservations about continued support for Ukraine because he believes that there is inadequate oversight on how the aid is spent and sees no strategy to win. Johnson also argued that America’s border problems should take priority, a preference shared by many on the right. Congress will take up the issue again this year, but the future of American aid to Ukraine is in serious doubt.
Four decades ago, a Republican president supported a different victim of Russian aggression, in a situation similar to the one that the United States faces today. When the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979, President Jimmy Carter offered limited aid to the Afghani resistance. But it was a Republican who championed and dramatically expanded funding for the Afghan mujahedeen during most of the nine-year effort to compel a Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan. That leader was the icon of the GOP, Ronald Reagan.

What’s “Official” is this current version of the Nordstream story.
It is Official because it is coming from the DC Globohomo Regime via their major Deep State media venue - Wash Post.
And it makes my larger point about the danger of Alliances such as NATO.
When reckless leadership from any country in the alliance is a threat.
But also an out of control Deep State within any country is also a threat.

Who put Lithuania up to the Kaliningrad blockade ?
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/lithuania-expands-restrictions-kaliningrad-trade-2022-07-11/
Reagan would have never instigated a proxy war in the first place…
Moron
Also.
What happened between July 11 and July 13 which caused a complete 180 by Lithuania ?
Lithuania has to worry about being invaded by a hostile force next door. So, what does that have to do with NATO “starting a war.” I don’t see any connection.
“Lithuania has to worry about being invaded by a hostile force next door. So, what does that have to do with NATO “starting a war.” I don’t see any connection.”
Lithuania doesn’t decide to do something as big as a Kaliningrad blockade on their own.
So what happened on July 13, 2022 when Lithuania dramatically reversed course and completely ended the blockade ?
The EU agreed with the reversal. Seemed to be urging it.
USA said nothing, after previously threatening Article 5 if Lithuania was attacked.
Maybe we will know some day, after this is all over. But I suspect that the EU bailed on USA/UK/Poland planned expansion of the conflict.
” USA/UK/Poland planned expansion of the conflict.”
Nonsense the US, UK and Poland do pot plan or want an expansion of the conflict. They want Russia to stop being a predatory and aggressive force in the world. I doubt Russia would of done what they did had they known what would happen. Russia is willing to risk a war but, I don’ think they want one unless they could win. Everyone else is peaceful.
” Everyone else is peaceful.”
Were you in a coma during Serbia/Kosovo, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and 20 years in Afghanistan ?
all of the other major powers are peaceful and not trying to take over other countries except for Russia. Minor countries do have violent civil wars and a few may even have plans to take other countries which are relevant to themselves. And the Arabs also. I do not consider any Arab country to be a major country except in oil production.
What are you talking about ?
USA and UK plus many other NATO countries and “democratic” allies were front and center in all of Serbia/Kosovo, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya.
In every case they bombed and/or had troops on the ground and attempted to forcibly depose the ruling government, and in Serbia, they also severed a province, and altered the borders.
Only in Syria were they not successful in creating Regime change.
