I just thought that your phrasing contributed to the idea being sold that the Reagan’s were merely dating and then had to get married when Nancy was discovered to be pregnant.
Since they were already engaged to marry, then they were already heading to the altar when Nancy became pregnant.

Patti and Ronnie have always been weird and stir the pot to be this counter to their father. Ronald Reagan was a good man. No man is perfect. I believe the words of Michael Reagan over the birth kids any day.
Adult children unhappy with their own life like to write negative stories about their parents. They never learned the ethics of growing up, which is that after a certain point an adult can push all their childhood baggage under the bridge, forgive their past and move on, on their own.
