Ronald Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis, says her mother, Nancy Reagan, convinced the former president to get married by getting pregnant with her in 1952, according to her upcoming book Dear Mom and Dad: A Letter About Family, Memory, and the America We Once Knew. Ronald Regan had been married to actress Jane Wyman before divorcing her, and according to Davis, had “made a pact” with Wyman that he wouldn’t remarry before she did. Davis wrote that her father was happy playing the field and “was not exactly anxious to get married again.” Davis was born six months after the couple married in March of 1952 and writes “Traveling back, you realize that the whole story of your family is bigger, messier, and often more tender than you once believed.”

Wise choice. If ever there was a genuine love story, Ronald and Nancy's is it. Perhaps the date was "hurried along," but it was destiny.

Well if she was born 6 months after they got married, then this is pretty obvious. Back in the day this was the accepted way of doing things.

It’s possible. But where President Reagan would have done right by the woman he loved I won’t think any less of him or her.
Patti is correct that a lot of family stories and family legends can be undone upon research. The old legend of having an “Indian Princess” in the family history has been put to the lie by DNA for a lot of families such as Lizzie “Pocahontas” Warren.
The fact remains at Ronnie did The honorable thing in a time before abortion was so commonplace. Either Patty Davis should honor that, or slice her wrists because she was a f****** mistake.
Even if their marriage had rough patches, as many many of them do, they worked out those differences and stayed married.
Better love story if you ask me.

Don’t know how true it is because I never read it myself, although it probably is, my mother always said Jane Wyman, when with Ronald Reagan, said he was so boring. Talking about politics all the time.
Nancy was a good fit :) I’m glad it worked out. There are so many sad marriaged and Hollywood is kind of that group.
