California Woman Rams Possible Porch Pirate With Her Car, Killing Her

California prosecutors have charged a woman with intentionally hitting a 60-year-old woman with her car after accusing her of stealing a package from her home.

The incident took place on December 8, and the unidentified victim, who suffered major injuries, died on December 23.

Dene Blakely, 39, was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon and later attempted murder. The charge was upgraded to murder after the victim’s death.

The San Pablo Police Department said they were called to the scene and learned that Blakely had rammed the victim after an altercation over a stolen package. The altercation escalated, police said, and ended with Blakely intentionally hitting the victim, who has not been named, with her car.

Blakely was arrested “without incident,” police said.

Police did not say if the victim had actually stolen a package from Blakely’s home.

Blakely was arraigned on the new murder charge on Friday and remains behind bars on a $1 million bail, according to jail records.

With bail set at $1,000,000, this person is a lot more dangerous than Hunter Biden!

The problem with not prosecuting theft is that it might lead to more people taking the law in their own hands. California has become the 21st Century’s “Wild West”. Lawlessness creates more lawlessness unfortunately.

Gotta protect the criminals, don’t they?

That could come in handy if you need a washer.

If the woman was truly stealing I would have no sympathy for the thief

I m too lazy to read the article. And Free Republic tradition says I don’t have to anyway. I will assume that the thief was still close to the woman, and he possibly could have been armed.

So I hope this woman said these three important things.
1. I was in fear for my life.
2. I will answer no questions.
3. I want to speak to a lawyer.

She is really going to want a jury trial for this one.

Anyone who has ever had a package stolen would have a hard time convicting...

Agreed. I believe that people are increasingly losing faith in the state’s ability to afford basic protections. Drugs and theft appear to be rampant and uncontrollable. To me, this loss of faith is big evidence that we are in the midst of collapse.

With government only selectively applying the law to people, or refusing to do their defined duties altogether, it will probably become necessary, especially in urban places.

Police did not say if the victim had actually stolen a package from Blakely’s home.

That is kind of an important point.

The thief was a 60-year-old woman.

Sometimes it pays to read the article.

Yes, but I choose to honor Free Republic tradition instead.

- Here less than 1 year: You really shouldn’t comment. You’re a newbie.

- Here 1 to 5 years: Please read the entire article before commenting.

- Here 5 to 10 years: Read the excerpt before commenting. Don’t worry about the rest of the article.

- Here 10+ years: Just take a quick glance at the headline. Then say whatever comes to mind.

🙂

Should be easy enough to prove that the package was stolen or was being stolen...what fools we mortals be. Some much worse than others..

democratic run city...claimed for Spain...back in the day..taken from Ohlone natives.(reparations?)..given to Mexico after Mexico got free of the Spanish..in Northern California...enclave city almost completely surrounded by Richmond, Ca.
