Donald Trump has expressed concern that the Supreme Court could back attempts by Colorado and Maine to block him from the Republican primary ballot, according to reports.
Both states have moved to exclude Trump over his role in the January 6, 2021, attack by his supporters on the Capitol.
The states have accepted legal challenges to Trump's nomination that cite Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which says office holders cannot 'have engaged in insurrection or rebellion'.
Trump has privately expressed concerns that the Supreme Court, to which he appointed three conservative justices while president, may side with Colorado and Maine so as not to appear 'political', The New York Times reported.
Despite the conservative supermajority on the bench the former president is worried the court will rule against him, a source told the Times.

Wouldnt that mean like with abortion, every state decides what to do..so the Colorado decision would stand, so would Maine, and every state would decide if they want Trump on the ballot or not..so basically every Conservative state would remove Biden, every dem state would remove Trump
Thanks, Sarah. Beat me to it. See my No.

“The conservative members of the Supreme Court know we go to civil war mode if they validate Colorado and Maine.”
Civil war will only happen if the Democrats try to confiscate guns or prosecute those who refused to register them.
Not a chance...Stop putting words in his mouth. And remember, Mike Johnson is a Constitutional Authority. Check out Dershowitz...he’s saying they’re all nuts.
DeSantis is good on policy and can implement it?
What? Like what? You think Trump’s problem is not implementing policy?
What do you think the president’s job is? And where in the constitution does it say the president’s job is primarily implementing policy?
“DeSantis will select good people for all departments “
? From where?
“if elected as President.”
In what scenario would that ever happen?
In what scenario has Trump been elected to political office when Hillary Criminal wasn’t on the ballot? None.
Or the brain.....or the personality.....or the business savvy.
Should I go on?
?
What kind of a question is that?
For any case involving our President Trump at the SCOTUS, Justices Jackson, Sotomayor and Kagan should be required to recuse themselves.
“the decision will be 9-0”
Gonna have to respectfully disagree with that my friend.
SHOULD it be 9-0? Absolutely.
Will it be? In a word, no.
If it does go 9-0, I’ll be more than happy to post a thread apologizing to you and everyone else for my stupidity.
Unfortunately I’m pretty confident I won’t have to do that.....Unfortunately.
Here’s what people say about DeSantis
“ Adding further insult to injury, he pronounced, “We’ve now witnessed one of the most expensive and embarrassing collapses in Republican history.”
You don’t know this?
The Dobbs decision by SCOTUS put abortion back to the states where it belongs.
When it comes to Trump and elections, though, unfortunately this is the same SCOTUS that didn't want to hear 2020 election fraud cases because of "standing".
“it’s not self executing”
Section 3 should be as self-executing as Section 1, if not more so.
President Trump is simply not guilty of either rebellion or insurrection. He could not be - he was top dog and scheduled to remain so for at least 14 days.
The only negative was the “go wild” comment. That was simply meant to make lots of noise. Instead 250,000 people should have been led to chant in unison: Georgia - stolen....
Right. The only worse is The Guardian via Yahoo “news”.
So is President Trump, Tippy Toes DeSantis without the "lifts" in his cowboy boots?
I would not trust Trump’s last two justices.
“where in the constitution does it say the president’s job is primarily implementing policy?”
Biden has been given lots of leeway by Congress.
Trump would use that leeway the right way. Did every graduate of a private university fail to learn?
A President tends to write the budgets that Congress tends to approve after adding in some ‘pork’.
Would a Trump administration require ‘green hydrogen’ or “carbon capture’, or 57mpg?
Would a Trump administration weld border barrier flood gates open?
Would the Trump administration sue Texas for trying to fend off invasion?
Would NY put invaders up in $400/night motels if not confident that reimbusement bill will not be vetoed?
Like I said, it's a political issue. The SCOTUS is not going to tarnish its reputation on this. So that's why I think they'll punt.
Yes, there's a risk that the election will be just like 1860
It would be very hard for a guy to walk like that.
Plus, it’s not really relevant, is it?
