An Ohio prosecutor has indicted a smoke shop manager for allegedly shooting to death a 16-year-old boy during a robbery attempt — but warned that people “should expect to be shot” if they target stores.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers filed the charges against the manager, Tony Thacker, 29, for allegedly shooting at would-be robbers as they fled VIP Smoke Shop in Delhi Township on Oct. 20..
“There is simply no justification for shooting at someone as they are running away,” Powers said ..
“However, I want to make perfectly clear — these retail thefts will not be tolerated. If you try to rob a store, you should expect to be shot,” ...
Thacker was inside the store when several people threw rocks through the front window to gain entry.
Thacker, who lived in the back of the business, went to investigate when he heard the glass break and encountered 16-year-old Travis Johnson and 19-year-old Amontae Carter, according to the outlet.
The manager, who is not permitted to own firearms due to an adjudication for a felony he received as a juvenile, allegedly gunned down Johnson and kept firing at the other suspects as they tried to flee in stolen cars, the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Carter was reportedly struck in one of the vehicles.

I’m with Melissa on this one.
When you are an armed robber, getting shot by those who you try to rob is an occupational hazard.
george is a fool.
I am personal friends with Missy Powers and she is as tough on crime conservative as anyone of us here on FR would want.
When she worked as an assistant prosecutor she expanded what she called the “rat trap” where she would do a plea deal with a habitual perp that included massive “time on the shelf” automatically imposed upon recommitting an offense which she said and I believe almost always occurred. A huge sentence to bypass the liberal judges that never would have ordered that amount of time.
She sweet talked a serial killer into confession.
She’s the best.
Then tell her she is dead wrong in prosecuting this poor guy. If she refuses to drop the charges, tell her she should resign immediately.
Nice people.
Wait until there are some actual facts. We have terrible news reporting in Cincinnati.
so someone is walking around store and then suddenly grabs something worth 1000’s and immediately starts running for the door... according to this guy, you can’t shoot him because he is already running! you are only allowed to shoot those who hang around after they start stealing apparently!
If the police were allowed to do their jobs and if these thieves were prosecuted and jailed for their crimes, many fewer business owners and other law-abiding citizens wouldn’t be put in these situations of having to take the law into their own hands.
Some people say it’s just “stuff” the thieves are taking and thus is inconsequential. But that stolen “stuff” might mean that the business owner can’t pay his rent or feed his family.
1. Don’t have video if you’re in a lawless Demonrat run city. YOU will be the one facing charges.
2. Get your story straight.
3. NEVER EVER TALK TO THE POLICE. Here’s an hour discussion of that and the police officer he (lawyer) has there as an expert says he agrees.

If you own a firearm and defense yourself, your property, or others, you will be a prime target for political prosecution. They want the sheep to stay sheep. Arm yourself and the system will use you as an example. Ask Kyle Rittenhouse.
I’m in favor of the immediate execution defensively of anyone robbing any store - armed or not.
We have a generation of feral ‘youths’ who have zero fear of consequences or the system. Quick executions is the best way to deter criminal behavior. Put a wild dog down and it won’t bite you.
Stay safe, folks. Remember this phrase, “I saw him reaching for what I believed to be a gun and I was in fear of my life. I had no way out. I’d like to speak to my attorney and have nothing else to say.”

Was thinking the same thing. Police will shoot you robbing a bank and running away.
Exactly. It’s the owner’s livelihood.
Right on.
I’m NOT because I do not believe in Special Rights, no citizen should be treated differently than any Government Employee when it comes to Self Defense, and unless they begin Prosecuting every last Police Officer for the same act, which happens frequently, I will never change my mind.
Special Rights for some is how all this crap started and it is why we are living in this dystopian hellhole of a Just Us System we have.
Guy was living in the back of the store when the group attacked. Castle Doctrine.
Put me on that jury and I’m a Not Gullty vote.

I agree with Melissa conceptually. For John Q. Citizen to just blast away at perps running AWAY from the incident site is stupid beyond belief as it endangers all citizens wife and kids or family members.
That said, I’m a Mayor Daley fan, to wit: “shoot to kill arsonists and shoot to maim looters”.
I also liked Walter M. Headleys, Chief of Police in Miami, who famously said.........”when the looting starts the shooting starts”.
Your friend is wrong. Criminals should expect resistance including being shot while robbing or escaping after act of robbery.
