As it happens, there are 27 service stops on the NYTW and there are hot meals available from multiple outlets at many of them on Sundays, including Burger King, Panera, Dunkin' Donuts, and many more. So suffocating the First Amendment religious freedom of hundreds of Chick-fil-A employees would not provide a critically needed service that is not already abundantly available.
If New York Thruway needed every food vendor open on Sundays, the requirement would have been in the bid proposal.
These rest areas contain multiple food vendors.
They wouldn't have built the stores if the contract written BY NYS stipulated they must be open on Sundays. Game, Set, Match.
“You know, we get hungry when we’re traveling. We may not like our brother-in-law or sister-in-law’s cooking and wanna get a snack on Christmas Eve,” the Democrat Assemblyman noted. “To find one of the restaurants closed on the Thruway is just not in the public good.”
Pack a stinking PB&J sammich and chips, moron…
This is exactly right.
I was very surprised to see that a requirement for business establishments to be open seven days per week wasn't written into the lease documents for the Thruway service areas when the lease/renovation program was initiated a couple of years ago.
Chick-fil-A didn't build anything. They are leasing space in service area buildings that could be occupied by any similar business.
How long until the VERMIN begin Swatting them?
They build the infrastructure, or to be more accurate, they have subcontractors that they hire to do that.
If Tony is so worried about hungry motorists, he needs to get a few hot dog vender carts and have his fellow members take them down to the service stops where all the hungry motorists are. Everybody knows Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays. Obviously, Tony didn’t read the memo or he is just trying to justify his job.
Who doesn’t love a good peanut butter and potato chip sammich?
Here's an image of a typical service area on the New York State Thruway:
Applegreen is the name of the company that signed a partnership deal with the New York State Thruway to renovate and upgrade the service areas and then operate them for 33 years.
Chick-fil-A is a tenant of Applegreen. CFA didn't build anything. They are occupying buildings that were constructed by Applegreen and operated like a typical retail center.
EATING while driving is considered “DISTRACTED DRIVING” in most states.
These same people like him side with Hamas/Qassam in the slaughter of the Jews.
Don’t care. CFA went hard left. So make a deal with your new friends, maybe polish their shoes or give even more money to prevent causes.
If I was Chick-fil I would open on Sunday and give out free food! Take that loss of taxes NY and take that loss of revenue the other restaurants on the Tollway! Some reason I do not think that action would need to last very long.
RE: CFA went hard left.
How so?
They bedded down with perverts and America haters and flipped the finger to the people who stood with them, all so they could expand into universities and states that hate them. So try to get along with your new buddies CFA.
Yes, I know a subcontractor that does these. Of course the building/service area is built (I visit these often in NYS) however the actual counter and cooking space is subcontracted out by the vendor to meet their requirements, grills, ovens, logos, menus etc.
This is the sponsor of the bill of this thread.
Tony Simone Aims to Be Chelsea’s First LGBTQ Assemblymember
“Tony Simone has been a visible player, dating back 25 years, in LGBTQ, political, and non-profit circles in New York. He has worked on the staffs of the late State Senator Catherine Abate, former State Comptroller Carl McCall, and former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn; served on Hillary Clinton’s 2000 US Senate campaign and volunteered in Quinn’s several Council runs as well as her 2013 mayoral campaign; and worked at non-profits including People for the American Way and Hudson River Park Friends.”
“Simone supports the full decriminalization of sex work — an issue of growing importance on the LGBTQ rights agenda, but one that divides those advocating elimination of penalties only for those offering sex services from other activists who argue that only by removing sanctions for everyone engaged in the sex trade can the industry be made safer.”
So the reason is not what they say.
Hmmmm so what could the reason be?
The Reason is never the Reason. The Reason is ALWAYS the Revolution.
