Nixon White House attorney John Dean said Thursday he believes the Maine decision to remove former President Trump from the ballot will be difficult to overturn, calling it “very solid.”
Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows (D) determined late Thursday that Trump should be kept off the state’s primary ballot because his conduct surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots violated the 14th Amendment.
Dean denounced criticism by the Trump campaign, which called the decision “election interference.”
“There was ample due process in this proceeding, and they just lost by a straight, honest reading of the 14th Amendment,” Dean said in a CNN interview. “Trump’s in trouble.”

True enough, but the US constitution determines qualifications of the presidential election, so that has to determine who can receive votes. Then the state "could" decide to send electoral college reps to the contrary of the voters' choice, but then there'd be consequences - biggies.

None of these leftist idiots have ever heard of due process. Trump has not been charged with insurrection and has been convicted of nothing. he cannot have his fundamental rights of free speech and pursuit of elective office denied without due process of law. That means a notice of the charge he’s facing and the opportunity to be heard in a fair and neutral court of law.

You have it exactly right. Our dual system of justice is always vigilant to protect and shield liberals in any way they can.
Furthermore, John Dean was the mastermind behind whatever the Watergate scandal was. He was in it from start to finish, and he sacrificed his president and his country for his own guilty ass. What is the kind of so-called American that the leftist media loves to snuggle up to.
It is the state legislature which determine how the state electoral votes are given
In the general election, although Trump’s name might be on the ballot, voters are actually voting for Electors pledged to vote for Trump. Don’t know how they can exclude Trump Electors from the ballot.
I can see the next step of law fare being the challenging of Electors in states Trump wins using the same ‘insurrection’ argument. Control of the House and Senate could prove to be essential.
More terrified than just scared, and more the Trumpenproletariat than Trump.
The elites can keep Trump off the ballots, they can put him in prison, they can even kill him.

Dean seems to forget that Trump hasn’t been convicted of anything.
Would everyone please stop hyperventilating about this decision? Just like the Colorado decision, everyone’s apoplectic without READING the ruling. Trump is not taken off the ballot.
