Louisiana is the latest on a growing list of states considering removing former President Donald Trump from the state's primary ballot on the grounds of the 14th Amendment.
Ashley Reeb filed a lawsuit against Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin, demanding that Trump be removed from the ballot over his actions surrounding the Jan. 6 riot, WVUE-TV Fox 8 reported. The lawsuit was filed last week but first reported on Wednesday.
“Both Trump’s actions (engaging in insurrection) as well as his inaction (giving aid and comfort to insurrectionists) on Jan. 6, 2021, disqualify him from holding any office of/under the United States,” the lawsuit reads.
The argument is the same that has been filed in Michigan, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Florida, New Hampshire, Oregon, and other states. Colorado became the first state to rule in favor of the challenge following a stayed decision from the state's Supreme Court. The matter is now expected to go before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Trump has repeatedly denounced the efforts as election interference.
"This pathetic gambit to rig the Election has failed all across the Country, including in States that have historically leaned heavily toward the Democrats," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday. "Colorado is the only State to have fallen prey to the scheme."
The efforts have also drawn condemnation from his Republican primary rivals, even winning a rare defense from one of his most relentless critics, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Not going to happen in Louisiana
A phony headline - some idiot in Louisiana filed this with the State government, it was not initiated by the government.
What will become of “Our Democracy” if we can’t ban candidates from the ballot?
I heard Colorado was trying to ban RFK Jr from their ballot too. These people are fanatical nutjobs who are the real threat to democracy.
Well Democrats doing this are just following their grand fathers who did the same to Lincoln when they didn’t want to stop the Slave State inhumanity of the South.
Zero chance America as we knew it ever survives this, they will not allow themselves to be Ruled by anyone not in their CCP like Party
Every time I see this picture, I can’t help but think: “Davy Jones of the Monkees gets disappeared...”
We will go back to living in a Republic again where the people rule the politicians not the other way around
As I understand it, there is one attorney going all over the country pushing the state GOPs to file the lawsuit.
John Anthony Castro, a Texas resident and long-shot candidate for the GOP presidential nomination, has filed numerous lawsuits across the country seeking to bar Trump from state ballots, including one in New Hampshire, a key early primary state.
Misleading headline. It is not Louisiana, but a homosexual Trump-hating law professor who is trying to get noticed with some TV time.
It’s not Louisiana or Colorado or Michigan.. or any other state. It’s made to sound like that by the media as if the people of that state don’t want Trump on the ballot. These are Soros financed individuals filing lawsuit (legal fees paid by Soros) which is then ruled upon by Democrat judges. That’s how this works. But it’s all going to get trashed in the SC.
We were just up near Bastrop (North of Monroe) . Saw many Trump flags, signs.
This kind of stopidity.. Control.. Is election interference from a lawless group of radicals.
Louisiana is not “joining the list”. It is just some nut trying to make a point.
What is its' standing?
Why does it matter?
Amen. Are there no editors any more? The headline is not supported by the text of the article. That’s a pretty simple test for the adequacy of a headline, and this one fails it
The feckless, and I mean feckless Supreme Court has got to knock this shat off and rule on this, presto.
