A federal judge hearing a challenge to a transgender health care ban for minors and restrictions for adults noted Thursday that Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis repeatedly spread false information about doctors mutilating children's genitals even though there's been no such documented cases.
The law was sold as defending children from mutilation when it is actually about preventing trans children from getting health care
Hinkle said he will rule sometime in the new year on whether the Legislature, the Department of Health and presidential candidate DeSantis deliberately targeted transgender people through the new law. He raised some skepticism about the state's motivation as lawyers gave their closing arguments.

The concept of ‘trans children’ makes no sense to me...
So you would side with persons wanting to mutilate children because Governor DeSantis said such mutilations were part of so called “gender affirming care”? You assume he was lying but it could well be he was not speaking to Florida specifically but what generally constitutes such treatment.
Notice the author of the article claims banning such treatment denies health care to transgender children from getting health care. No bias there.
Yep and I believe (I could be wrong) this is in Tallahassee not known for many being sympathetic to those who oppose the whole trans agenda.
What exactly was the lie? That bottom surgery isn’t mutilation? Or that it doesn’t actually happen to anyone? Or that it has never happened below a certain age? The article doesn’t specify (probably deliberately).
I’m sorry that you and your trans gendered friends (not that there’s anything wrong with that) feel as though the governor is being too sanctimonious, but all parents this side of Hollywood are against trans surgeries without parental consent.
Trump and his creepy pac buddies tried to get DeSantis off of the ballot in Florida over the law that specified that yes a governor can run for president and that sad ploy went absolutely nowhere. I’m guessing that it is these very same clowns have this sad trick up their blouse sleeves in order to vainly make RDS look bad for actually siding with families and parents lol. Good luck with that!

At least a dozen child genital mutilations done in Florida over a year period, and that is the just the Medicaid/taxpayer paid for ones...additional private insurance or cash pay ones not tracked.
DeSantis is right on with this issue.
Do we live in a republic where the elective legislatures make the laws or where black-robed philosopher-kings get to tell the people what laws they can have or not have. The law was duly passed and signed; this judge can take a hike.

Otherwise, this is the same as calling gang bangers up to 18 or 19, children, involved or harmed by gun violence.
They use ‘children’ without specifying what ages the ‘children’ are because most people think ‘children’ are up to something like older than toddlers to 8-10 yrs old.

The dozen taxpayer paid surgeries were on “under age 21” individuals. Too young, brains not fully developed. I agree with the FL guidance:
