Czech police say people have been killed in a shooting in downtown Prague

PRAGUE (AP) — A shooting in downtown Prague killed several people and wounded dozens of others, and the person who opened fire is dead, Czech police said Thursday.

Police gave no details about the victims or the circumstances of the gunfire in the Czech Republic’s capital. They said officers were deployed due to a shooting at a school in Jan Palach Square.

The philosophy department of Charles University, which is located at the square, was evacuated, Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda said.

The police department said the square has been sealed off. It urged people also to leave the surrounding streets and stay inside.

Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan said the was no other shooter at the scene, but he urged people to cooperate with police.

The shooting happened at the Charles University’s Faculty of Arts, which sits near major tourist sites like the 14th-century Charles Bridge.

That area is usually jam-packed with tourists and locals too.

My son was at that school this past spring. Let’s see if the media tells us it is a Jewish College. Bet not…

Can you provide data that supports that conclusion of the first part, because I have never seen such info. As a matter fact, in the US in 2023 there was only one mass shooting* that involved a black person as the shooter

* defined as 4 people or more killed, not including the perp, others sources have different definition.

I've read many stories about blacks shooting up birthday parties, block parties, graduation parties, etc.

Many wounded, even if few killed. I'd call those mass shootings.
