Austin’s progressive district attorney is facing criticism in the community after a man who allegedly killed two while committing his 7th DUI is walking the streets after his charges and bond were reduced.
Roberto Rangel, 52, was arrested last year in Travis County, Texas, for his 7th DUI that resulted in the deaths of 22-year-old Kate Garcia and 23-year-old Mark Narvaez, Fox 7 Austin reported.
Rangel, who has been sentenced to over 14 years in prison for DUIs dating to 1989, reportedly pulled out of a Chick-fil-A parking lot in Austin at 2:45 a.m. and parked his car sideways in the road.
A motorcycle crashed into the parked vehicle, killing Narvaez and Garcia. Rangel was reportedly too intoxicated to participate in a sobriety test at the scene. Fox 7 Austin reported that Rangel's charge was reduced to DWI a few months after his arrest, and his bond was reduced from $100,000 to $10,000 before he was released. Additionally, Rangel's bond conditions were eased earlier this year, and his portable alcohol monitor was removed.
"We don’t understand why he’s out," Elida Zamora, Garcia's mother, told Fox 7 Austin this week.
"I think that a guy like him is basically making a mockery out of our legal system," Mark Narvaez’s father, Hector, told the outlet.
News of Rangel's release sparked intense criticism from Austin locals who say they are fed up with Garza's progressive agenda.

Oops! It’s from 2023, not 2021.
I think the game is on...so much crazy stuff happening over the past few days that I believe the Left knows its days are numbered and they are hell-bent to destroy.
“I think that a guy like him is basically making a mockery out of our legal system,” Mark Narvaez’s father, Hector.”
No, Hector. He’s just doing what drunks do. The one making a mockery is the DA.
He has an address, Mr. Navarez.
I’m just saying.
L
Can’t the TX AG remove him? Charge him with manslaughter.
Jose Garza = DA
The goal is to kill as many legacy US citizens as possible, by any means necessary.
But, use your legally owned and carried firearm to shoot a commie terrorist, that has an AK47 pointed at your head, then it’s off to the gulag for life, for you, zek.
“Rangel was reportedly too intoxicated to participate in a sobriety test at the scene.”
Reminds me of a line from The Andy Griffith Show
Barney: We couldn’t give Otis a sobriety test then.
Andy: Why not?
Barney: He was too drunk.
“I think that a justice system like this is basically making a mockery out of our country”.
Soros’ DA- Murder, rape, steal…. Slap on the wrist. Walk around in the Capitol? 20 years.
Meanwhile, the DA, Garza, has just indicted yet another APD officer for ‘deadly conduct’ in the shooting death of someone who was yielding/pointing a rifle.
This stuff never ends in this city.
Officer Sanchez is indicted for deadly conduct, a 3rd degree felony.
As usual, the Austin Chronicle puts a sympathetic spin on the shooter - “a tech entrepreneur” - who had already fired off several rounds from his rifle and refused to drop his rifle when ordered by the police.
People used to be able to depend on our justice system....no longer...I am afraid we r headed into vigilatism.
I perceived it as Narvaez saying the DA was making the mockery.
I believe it’s only a matter of time before all those families screwed by Soros backed DAs and Ags will strike back at them.
This time the Drunken Breakfast Taco murdered two people. The boy needs a sheriff’s necktie party. String his ass up.
Austin is apparently a liberal “hell hole”. Anyone who is able should move, immediately!
