Ms. Weingarten fails to note two facts that are fatal to her arguments:
1) Competition ALWAYS forces down prices, and
2) Competition ALWAYS forces everyone to get better.
Teachers’ unions are dependent on the opposite. They want to drive up costs and they do NOT want people getting better.
Private, non-union schools overwhelmingly provide a superior product at a lower cost. Why is this, Ms. Weingarten?

The problem is the 90%, not some Flaming Leftist that the Flaming Leftists who teach in and run our schools vote to support them.
How many of them ‘have no choice’ but to send their kids to her schools? Where I work, in a professional capacity, I’d estimate that at least half of them could afford other options, but very few do.
Why - because to ‘afford’ other options means that they’d have given up some of their ‘lifestyle’ (such as living in a smaller house, their NEW F150, their boat, their camper, etc.).
So they essentially say: “Sorry kid, you on your own with those monsters who want to cut your dick off, since my lifestyle matters much more to me.”
This is why every Public Employee in America should be required to send their children to the public school in their neighborhood or face Felony Prosecution and Removal of the CHildren so they can get a proper education in the Public School System.
