New York was one of eight states to lose population over the past year with nearly 102,000 residents — the most in the nation — fleeing the Empire State, new data finds.
While Democrat-run New York and California saw a notable drop in population from July 2022 to July 2023, Republican-helmed states like Texas and Florida notched a considerable net increase of people moving in, the US Census Bureau said Tuesday.
New York’s population was about 19.57 million as of July 1 after it was roughly 19.67 million just 12 months ago — the largest decline of any state in the country, census data shows.

But are they going to infest Texas or is it the Republicans that are leaving? The first is a problem.
With all of the “mass killings” the far left’s mainstream “media” claims occurred in Texas, the population should have been cut in half since the Bidenskyyyyy Freak Show rose to power.
But the Biden administration is working hard to replace those cowardly American citizens with brave and noble Illegal Immigrants.
Good question
Are they counting illegal aliens ?
NY has probably gained twice that number of illegals in recent months.
* High income earning residents fleeing.
* Spanish speaking, uneducated welfare/SNAP/EBT, unassimilating moochers arriving.
* Adams in NYC wants to raise taxes to close his multi-billion tax deficit.
* Businesses fleeing.
Good luck!
People have been leaving NYS since the mid 1970s. Me and three siblings all left after attending SUNY colleges. Almost all of the friends I grew up with in Orchard Park(home of the Buffalo Bills) left and moved out of state. I can only think of one or two friends that stayed.
New York has had the largest number of people leave. However, the metro area that is currently seeing the largest exodus is San Francisco and Oakland. My company pays for a service that tracks housing starts and permits. It breaks it down by geographical areas. So you can see what areas are growing and what are not.
Out of 40 different metro areas in the USA the one with the LOWEST building permits year to date for 2023 is Kansas City, MO at 5719. St. Louis is number two 637. San Fran/Oakland/Berkeley is number three(lowest) at 6488.
As a comparison Houston is the highest in the country at 59,997. Dallas/Ft Worth is 57,310. Phoenix is 37182. NYC/Newark is 34,459. Atlanta is 34,315.
The San Francisco area is losing more people than any other metro area. Many are moving to LA and the valley east of LA. Many are also moving to Sacramento. Lots were moving to Austin. Though that has slowed down, but Austin is still in the top ten in the country at 33,149 starts. They also also still moving to Boise and Coeur D’Alene, ID and Bozeman.
San Fran has the lowest starts of ANY metro area in the western US states.
I heard they were fleeing climate change. To Texas. /snicker
The tax base is leaching away, while the leeches descend upon our state. (if I might turn a phrase). Not a good long term financial strategy.
The system is not sustainable. Ask Eric Adams how that is working out.
Adams: Cost of migrants ‘will destroy New York City’
Citing NYC migrant crisis, Adams calls for steep budget cuts, hiring freeze
A study examining murders in 2021 based on death certificate data projects that one out 179 Americans will eventually be murdered over the course of their lifetimes if the country’s murder rate remains at 2021 levels.
“That means if you’re in the United States, you live here, you’re born and you spend your life here, your odds of your life ending by murder are one in 179 over your life. Not over a year or any other time frame.”
“It’s just somebody’s gonna murder you before you die of natural causes, an accident, suicide, whatever it may be,” Jim Agresti, president and co-founder of Just Facts, a nonprofit research institute, told Fox News Digital. Agresti also authored the study.
Just Facts undertook a massive project to examine how many people were murdered in 2021 after weeks of news outlets and experts reporting there is no definitive figure for 2021 murders due to newly-released FBI data for that year being incomplete and based on estimates.
Please don’t move to Alabama. We don’t want them down here.
Alabama is on my short list. I will not be turning it blue though
Can we trust these escapees? Is it the lefts plan to get more demo heads to mess with the two largest red states? Lame I know, but who knows what goes on in a Nazi lover’s mind.
Houston is the highest in the country at 59,997.
You ought to see all the new neighborhoods popping up all over the Houston area. Montgomery and Ft. Bend counties are booming with new neighborhoods, schools and roads.
If you believe the census figs, I don’t BTW, NYS still had a low six fig net loss even after all the illegals.
But replacing makers with takers is fine and dandy with Deep State.
And for anyone still deluded enough to think that they can vote with their feet, all I can say is denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.
Take a look at the state budgets for all 50.
Deep State has every state by its financial shorthairs.
There’s not a red state in the nation.
Not one.
But if you take out the big cities, that murder rate drops WAY down.
I remember reading a while back that, if you take out the big city murders, the US was close to the safest country in the world.
I just moved to Texas a few months ago; fell in love with the state almost 30 years ago with my first trip here. Have been to Alabama a number of times but just didn’t have the feel that being here does.
I took the wife to Texas and it rained all week and she hated the Huston traffic. Then she got sick and spent all the time in the hotel when we were supposed to tour small town Texas.
Been trying to get her to go back.
