So if Trump is a moderate according to the NYT, what does that make the people who sabotaged his presidency, or pulled out all the stops to cheat in 2020, or conduct bogus lawfare to prevent him from running again?

Or using the apparati of the State to persecute/prosecute those who support Trump's policy?

It’s a Matthew Schmitz opinion piece published in the New York Times. Describing it as a New York Times op-ed makes it seem like it is coming from NYT.

Here is a link to the article.

“Op-ed” means it’s not the paper’s own opinion.

The article is right, but I wonder why the Times published it, since it goes against everything they want readers to believe.

They can label him all they want.

I just know I’m going to vote for him.

That probably close to the truth.

I actually would consider him a moderate. Everything he has stood for that I can think of was actually simple common sense solutions. Nothing radically right or left.

Donald Trump governed like a 1970’s Moderate-Liberal Democrat (think Scoop Jackson with a personality). He was a big spender, favored social programs, but believes in a strong defense and truly loves America.

Recall that the snow flake reporters at the NYT revolted when Tom Cotton’s op ed recommended that Trump call out the military to crush the BLM riots. Wonder if they’ll flip out over a pro Trump op ed?

That’s ridiculous. Trump would have to move to the right to be a moderate.

He’s right though. The idea that Trump was a extremist was always just a left wing talking point. They always portray any right of center position as “extremist”.

They called W an extremist too. Heck they also called Romney an extremist when he ran against a democrat.

Trump is not really an extremist in any way shape or forum. He’s only really slightly right of center. The only difference is that on the issues that he was right of center on, he actually tried to deliver.

Trump is pretty much a moderate, let's do what works kind of guy.

Which is why I never understood the hysteria unless it is because he does want to do things that actually work.

After all if the country is actually functioning like a very creaky, smoking machine that lurches a bit but keeps going forward things are still working.

And there are people who do not want that. They prefer smoldering wreckage.

NYT has been reduced to birdcage material for some time now.

Trump IS a moderate.
He’s never been able to pass any Conservative purity test.
But his bent toward dismantling the Deep State, to draining The Swamp, and rolling back tons of onerous BigGov oppression resonates STRONGLY across an entire country that’s been suffocating for decades.
And that’s a wide enough stripe of Conservatism to garner my vote.
