Serbia's Populists Claim Sweeping Victory in Parliamentary Election

An early official vote count of Serbia's weekend election Monday confirmed victory for the ruling populist party in a parliamentary vote in the Balkan country, but political tensions rose over reported irregularities in the capital, Belgrade.

An opposition group said it was robbed of victory in the local election in Belgrade, would not recognize the results and would demand a rerun of the ballot.

Sunday's parliamentary and local election in the Balkan country pitted populist President Aleksandar Vucic's Serbian Progressive Party against the Serbia Against Violence opposition alliance.

The incumbent won re-election. This is a surprise?

Article then says “...the result means that the SNS party will have an absolute majority in the 250-member parliament and will form the next government on its own”.

Was this not the case before? Incumbent party is now more popular? This is also a surprise?

“Hyperproduction of voters who do not live in Serbia, let alone in Belgrade, is a flagrant abuse of law,” opposition politician Marinika Tepic said early on Monday. “We will use all legal means at our disposal to democratically defend the voting will of people.”

Ex-pats living abroad swung the vote [like in Hungary’s election]? Or given that the winner more than doubled the second place finisher’s vote total, their complaint is phoney and this is sour grapes? [”...Vucic’s SNS party won some 47% of the ballots in the parliamentary vote, followed by Serbia Against Violence with 23%,”]

Also, I am reliably informed that questioning the results of an election is the destruction of democracy. Not so much when the western a**-lickers lose, now ain’t that a pip!

“Serbia, a Balkan country that has maintained warm relations with Russia and President Vladimir Putin...” This is as close as they get to the real explanation for this article.

There are no UN Blue Helmets in Kosovo and never were. There was a small contingent of UN civilian staff and UNCIVPOL in the very beginning, long long gone now. The military component was all NATO and under NATO command. It’s just NATO’s KFOR now and the EU’s EULEX.

The elections in Serbia don’t affect Kosovo that much, as it’s now its very own separate country (still being babysat by NATO, as it is not a viable state, and hey, we built Bondsteel to last for the ages).

The Serbians Against Accordions party claims it was denied its proper victory. Naturally, accordion violence will be the only resort.

Good questions, Tony.

I'm no expert in Serbian Election Law and Rules.

That said, I am an expert on EU "Democracy", or more properly: Mob Rule. In the EU, the Mob of connected insider cronies in Brussels, Rule.

The "Serbia Against Violence opposition alliance" is pro Brussels Rule of Serbia and pro NATO Bombing protection of Kosovar Ethnic Cleansing Terrorist Muslims, ...because they use Mostly Peaceful Violence.

Additionally, like American DemoKKKrats, they are "Concerned" with election fraud.

Like allowing Serbians to vote in Serbian elections.

I’ve never been able to follow who’s who in that region. Hardest for me were the Serbian Croats. It sounded a bit like White supremacist Blacks, to my ears.

The article is from Newsmax, who credit the reliably biased Associated Press. If only the AP had hammered one side as being “right-wing” and the other side as “progressive,” I would know what I was supposed to think (and would think the opposite).

My guess is that the MSM (NYT/AP/ABC etc.} have yet to form their consensus. In the absence of a clear media agenda, we are getting some actual reporting. That hardly ever happens.

Once the media get their act together, they will all spout the same nonsense.

I take it you mean the ethnic Serbs of Croatia. They were ethnically cleansed in 1995 with a great deal of American help to the Croats.

I can elaborate, if you wish, as I witnessed it.

During WWII Croatia was an enthusiastic junior partner to the Nazis. They set up a a Treblinka before the Germans did and ran horrific death camps for ethnic Serbs, so horrific, their SS minders sent dispatches back to Hitler expressing their alarm and disgust at the bloodlust and sheer goriness of it all.

With independence, all the Nazi stuff re-emerged (kinda like in Ukraine, but not exactly) and they resurrected all that, Nazi symbols, official currency, etc.

When Roosevelt learned the extent of their atrocities, he declared Croatia should never be its own country again. Well, Bill and Hill did not agree. Problem solved. No more ethnic Serbs in Croatia, all their homes destroyed so they can never return ... and my country helped in many, many ways. I will always despise the Clintons.

Thank you. That helped a lot. The articles I saw from the MSM were opaque to me.

The Croatian Nazis were called the Utashi/Ustashi and the most cruel of Nazis’ allies along with the SS Moslem divisions run by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.

Total monsters in human form.

Yes, the Ustaše were indeed bloodthirsty and cruel, beyond cruel. A very brave journalist managed to save records from Jasenovac and then embarked on putting together a project covering the Ustaše period, called The Pavelic Papers. This was a dangerous thing to do at the time. It’s no longer online, but can be found here, if anyone is interested:

Their Muslim allies in BiH were quite nasty, too, but not nearly so nasty as the Ustaše.
