A heroic Texas teen was shot in the heart during a road rage nightmare but still managed to safely veer her car off the road to save her passengers before she died.
Louise Jean Wilson, 17, was driving to watch the sunrise in Galveston with her boyfriend and another friend when the heated confrontation ignited on Dec. 10, according to Houston Police.
Police said Wilson unintentionally swerved in front of the suspect’s four-door sedan to avoid getting into an accident when the gunman opened fire in response at around 1 a.m. on Interstate 45 in Houston.
“The vehicle that they had cut off accelerated and overtook her on her driver’s side,” Det. Caleb Bowling said during the press conference.
Despite being mortally wounded, Wilson safely guided her car off the road to save her friends from the gunfire and prevent other drivers from crashing into her vehicle on the busy interstate.
“Louise’s last act was to safely pull over, most likely saving the lives of two males,” Detective Caleb Bowling said during the press conference. “It was a heroic act to get that car to the side and stop with the injuries that she sustained.”
A 17-year-old male passenger was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and was treated and released. A third male was not injured.
The suspect, described as a black male in his mid-20s, has yet to be located by police.

9 times out of ten I see someone focused on their phone and not paying attention to the traffic around them. I used to get mad, as we all do, when I realized that I am not responsible for their bad actions, whether they are just rude, not paying attention, bad drivers, etc., but I can control my anger and stay off of the phone while driver. It is an enormous challenge, but I do work at it. Let other people get mad and stay out of their way. Let them win the ‘challenge’ and just go on and live another day. (not a lecture directed at you, but at all of us, especially me).
And too many people are willing to play along.
Good point. Our "betters" maintain their control by stoking racial and religious animosity. In my youth, certainly there were racial differences, but nothing like what we are seeing today. Is it my imagination or did racial affairs get much worse after the reign of BHO?

Seriously though, what are we (decent society) going to do, just accept it? Because of these very people I feel I must carry a weapon wherever I go. The media would have you believe it is racist to expect them to behave.

Yep. Back in the 90s, for a brief time, I thought things were getting better. But they aren't. Human nature is static, and not very admirable.
sad to hear, but going to see the sun rise is not a very good reason to be out at 1am.
If they wanted they could have traveled at a decent hour the day evening before.

She was probably driving like a selfish asshole. Or just totally clueless which is probably more likely.

Have to ask what were the parents thinking allowing their 17 year old to be out all night (going to watch the sunrise), and driving at 1 am? Bet they’ll regret that for the rest of their lives.
IMHO very little good is done by allowing minor teens out past midnight (even 10/11).

If this group had heeded that advice, and not been on the roads they could have avoided this interaction with feral animals.

It is not that far from Houston to Galveston, and the sun does not rise at 1 a.m. This does not change what happened, but it does not make sense.
And if the article is to believed, she was forced to swerve to avoid an accident. Nothing selfish reported. Quite the opposite when it mentions she maintained enough control to steer the car to safety before dying. But even if this is her friends spinning things to make her look better (and I have no reason to believe so), you’re right that it should not be a death sentence.
