Russia's Central Bank on Friday raised its key interest rate to 16%, the fifth hike since summer as it fights to keep accelerating inflation down and a move widely anticipated by analysts.

"Current inflationary pressures remain high," the Central Bank said in a statement explaining the rate hike, adding that "annual inflation for 2023 is expected to be close to the upper bound of the 7.0–7.5 percent forecast range."

This is a developing story.

Never trust figures from any government entity, as they are always politicized.

Also, you can bet that no matter how bad things are economically in Russia, Vlad is feeling little pain from it. You know, just like the deep state folks over here.

Their little grunting cokehead Zelensky wouldn’t be hopping the globe with his pockets hanging out if Ukraine had an economy.

The were a total mess prior to the war because of all their corruption. The government lived well while the citizens were pretty poor.

Many in their hierarchy have fled with their suitcases full of US taxpayer dollars.

Amazingly, the EU dictatorship is going to rush Ukraine into membership.

Guess they need another welfare case.

I'd say after the Wagner Group turning on him he is shitting-a-brick about what could come next.

Actually, Ukrainians farmers achieved that long ago...

What else do you have besides the Russians?

Wait your turn. Schultz should have Germany’s interest rates at 30% before the next anniversary of Kristallnacht.

Refresh my memory here please, anyone with knowledge of this.
I recall reading here that if the US drilled and pumped oil in large enough amounts to drive world price down, the Russians are screwed if world price drops below what they need just to bring it to market. The really tanks their unbalanced economy unlike current sanctions that are a game to evade by countries sympathetic to Russia.

My searching tirelessly for peace is hardly derangement, rather it’s your cheering for war that shows a mental imbalance.

No I do not mean Kentucky...

I understand you are European and the USA is far away.

Glad to help!

Kentucky has been in the union since 1792
The best selling car in America is manufactured in Kentucky
Kentucky produces 95% of the world’s supply of bourbon whiskey
Kentucky exports reached a record $22.1 billion in 2012, with products and services going to 199 countries.
The total gross state product for 2020 was $212.539 billion.
As of April 2023, the state’s unemployment rate is 3.7%.[125] In 2014 Kentucky was found to be the most affordable U.S. state in which to live
Median household income is over $52,000

Not remotely like Ukraine.
