This was an astute political move by Johnson. The OP here did not tell us that the FISA authorization is only temporary, until April 15th, 2024. This will give the House time to revise section 702 in the next year and construct a stand-alone bill.

I hate to say it, but Judges authorized the actions and if illegal who has been arrested and prosecuted? No one, so unfortunately the powers to be believe that these actions are illegal.
