New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) is pushing a ban on AR-15s and other semiautomatic rifles in an upcoming 30-day legislative session in her state.
The Santa Fe Reporter noted Grisham wants to do what Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) unsuccessfully attempted at the federal level. Heinrich, together with Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), put forward the Gas-Operated Semiautomatic Firearms Exclusion Act (GOSAFE), and it went nowhere.
Breitbart News reported the focus on the AR-15’s gas operation came some 64 years after the gun was designed to use spent gas from a shell casing to reset the bolt group and ready the gun for the next round. The rifle is still just a semiautomatic, firing one round per trigger pull just like a Glock or Smith & Wesson handgun, but the gas from a spent shell casing replaces recoil in working the action.
Grisham believes New Mexico lawmakers will be more open to banning an entire category of firearms — by highlighting gas operation, etc. — than Heinrich and Kelly’s federal colleagues were.

“Gas operated” was just a term to make the acronym work, nothing more.
New Mexico has gone full revolutionary socialist. The congressional delegation is a former associate of Ghislane Maxwell, a former Maxwell employee, and a homosexual anchor baby. The Senators are a homosexual and a carpetbagger city city counselor who got pushed forward by a democrat machine.
The Governor is a baby killing 5 foot tyrant.
Democrats won every statewide race in the last election. Beautiful place with great food, but it has gone communist and perverted.

Question: Why do we need AR15s?
Answer: Because treasonous Democrats and fools like her are encouraging internal criminality, and allowing non-vetted criminal foreign nationals and home invasion gangs from third world undesirable countries into our country to help drug cartels gain an even bigger foothold. We need a national deputized posse of lawful citizens and a bounty put on removing these threats as they did in the 1800s.
Where is the pic of the ham-ass clowns in hang gliders? THAT is why you need a 60 rd magazine hooked to your AR15.

It was awesome in the 60’s. Still gorgeous and lots of good food. But, I couldn’t live there now.

The bottom line, our borders are wide open and at least 10 million have flooded in during the last 3 years. Prison doors have sprung wide open after covid with mass release of criminals. New Mexico had some of the worst and longest lockdowns, killing about a third of NM businesses. A “no bail” system has been implemented, the Police have been completely deballed in Albuquerque and crime is rampant. Murder rates are at an all time high. We are on the verge of a currency collapse or hyperinflation. Energy prices are sky high. War with Russia, China, and Iran are constantly a whisker away. Perverts run the schools.
Pre-genocidal language is commonly and openly used when discussing white people.

OH, and I almost forgot legal weed, a flood of illegal fentanyl and Sackler Oxycontin, and 30% of the people on anti-depressants.

Banning them is like banning Natural Gas stoves.
Gas is bad for the environment.
What if someone invents a gas capture bag for the AR-15 - like on methane belching cows?
Wouldn’t this apply to just about all semiautomatic firearms?
I blame the springs.
So they want to ban “gas operated” guns for the purpose of making America safer, but the proposed law will not ban emerging bubble gum operated rifles that can - possibly - fire bullets ten times faster and further than an old school AR-15.
I’m guessing after dangerous “gas operated” guns are outlawed they will start closing the loopholes to get everything else that is dangerous.
