STEPHEN MOORE: Biden just pledged to shut down 60% of America’s electric power
NY POST ^ | STEPHEN MOORE

Posted on 12/13/2023 4:45:15 AM PST by RandFan

The Biden administration made two virtue-signaling proclamations at last week’s COP28 conference in Dubai that it says will help save the planet from climate change.

The policies aren’t likely to change the planet’s temperature by even one-tenth of a degree, but they might just destroy the 21st-century American industrial economy as we know it.

First, Team Biden announced it will stop production of all new coal plants in the United States.

This comes on the heels of President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency saying this year it would impose new power plant emission regulations that are virtually impossible for coal plants to comply with.

The bottom line: No more coal. Period.

But the White House was just getting started.

Vice President Kamala Harris trumpeted the next day new rules to “sharply reduce methane from the oil and natural gas industry.”

The administration calls methane a “super-pollutant” that it wants to eliminate because it’s “many times more potent than carbon dioxide.”

But methane is effectively a hydrocarbon that comes from natural gas.

Here is the most sinister part of this story that no one in the Biden administration is telling you: Eradicating coal and natural gas plants will ravage America’s electric power capacity.

Feral givernment goes first. Reduce the size of the ferals in half, shutdown buildings permanently. Ferals are the biggest consumer of carbon. Their reduction will reduce the demand for carbon, thereby reduce the supply. For those that are left, remove all heat and AC from their offices and public buildings. Congress limits itself to May - August presence. Once that is in plave, then we can talk about how the rest of us can follow the leaders.

“Eradicating coal and natural gas plants will ravage America’s electric power capacity.”

At the same time he is demanding everyone drive electric cars.

Ever get the feeling this isn’t about the climate?

Chilling numbers.

Coal still provides roughly 20% of our electric power; natural gas supplies around 40%.

Stop and think about it. The Dims have had their way to the point of switching 40% of our power to sources not coal or natural gas --- yet that's still not enough. They are determined to never be satisfied. It's about control, not saving the earth from some fake warmageddon.

Everybody with any sense knows that the Modern Warm Period is nothing new or to be afraid of. And even real dangers aren't worth giving up our freedoms anyway.

Ever get the feeling this isn’t about the climate?

It always has been about control. Ford, Chevy and the other all made statements that they are less focused on EVs 2024-2026 than they said they were going to be 5 years ago. While converting Medium duty daily delivery vehicles for urban use seems like the most useful use of the battery build capacity just from the economic and eviromental impact. Hybrid and Plug in Hybrid get 90% of the results at 40% of the cost to consumer..... I do not get their religion, I never will.

You will be subjected to rolling blackouts and brownouts and your electricity rates will still rise but don't worry! It's for Mudder Erf which has never before been subjected to Climate Changes anytime in its history until automobiles and coal fire power plants. Ever.

can we get a fact check on that please?

“But methane is effectively a hydrocarbon that comes from natural gas”

Um, natural gas *IS* methane, CH4.

but then again, there ARE *many* natural gasses.

It's intentional.

“We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”

So declared Barack Obama in Columbia, Missouri, on Oct. 30, 2008, on the cusp of his historic presidential election.

Of course it isn’t about the climate. For those who know, it’s about the opportunity to destroy capitalism and always, always about the will to power, the desire to control. For the befuddled believers, it’s the opportunity to contribute to something important

whitehouse.gov....... circa April 2022

snip

BIDEN: We’ve sent Ukraine thousands of anti-armor, anti-[air] missiles, helicopters, drones, grenade launchers, machine guns, rifles, radar systems, more than 50 million rounds of ammunition. The United States alone has provided 10 anti-armor systems for every Russian tank that is in Ukraine — 10 to 1.

We’re providing Ukraine significant, timely intelligence to help them defend themselves against the Russian onslaught.

And we’re facilitating a significant flow of weapons and systems to Ukraine from our Allies and partners around the world, including tanks, artillery, and other weapons.

That support is moving with unprecedented speed.

Much — much of the new equipment we’ve announced in the past two mon- — two weeks has already gotten to Ukraine, where it can be put to direct use on the battlefield.

However, we have almost exhausted what we call — the fancy phrase — the “drawdown authority” that Congress authorized Ukraine — authorized for Ukraine in a bipartisan spending bill last month.

Basically, we’re out of money.

And so, that’s why today, in order to sustain Ukraine as it — as it continues to fight, I’m sending Congress a supplemental budget request.

It’s going to keep weapons and ammunition flowing without interruption to the brave Ukrainian fighters and continue delivering economic and humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people.

This so-called supplemental funding addresses the needs of the Ukrainian military during the crucial weeks and months ahead. And it begins — it begins to transition to longer-term security assistance that’s going to help Ukraine deter and continue to defend against Russian aggression.

This assistance would provide even more artillery, armored vehicles, anti-armor systems, anti-air capabilities that have been used so effectively thus far on the battlefield by the Ukrainian warriors.

You know, and it’s going to deliver much-needed humanitarian assistance as well as food, water, medicines, shelter, and other aid to Ukrainians displaced by Russia’s war, and provide aid to those seeking refuge in other countries from Ukraine.

It’s also going to help schools and hospitals open. It’s going to allow pensions and social support to be paid to the Ukrainian people so they have something — something in their pocket. It’s also going to provide critical resources to address food shortages around the globe.
