House Speaker Mike Johnson Johnson told reporters Tuesday after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that there was no resolution in sight to the impasse over President Biden’s request for $61.4 billion in new funding for Ukraine.
Johnson (R-La.) said that he told Zelesnky during a private meeting that “we stand with him and against [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,” but that he was concerned about the lack of a plan to resolve the conflict and provide oversight of the proposed spending.
“I have asked the White House since the day that I was handed the gavel as speaker for clarity. We need clear articulation of the strategy to allow Ukraine to win, and thus far their responses have been insufficient,” Johnson said.
“They have not provided us the clarity and the detail that we requested over and over since literally 24 hours after I was handed the gavel … And so what the Biden administration seems to be asking for is billions of additional dollars with no appropriate oversight, no clear strategy to win, and none of the answers that I think the American people are owed.”

PING
And yet we’re that every penny is accounted for!
90% of that money is going to Biden’s pet projects.
$61B would have been 20 years at the rate Trump asked for...and was told no by the mafia princess Pelosi.
This is just like the bum on the corner begging for money. There is zero chance that money is actually going to go towards food and shelter (what it is supposedly intended for) and will go straight to drugs and alcohol. That’s why I have only given a bit of food every now and then.
Z is asking for money, when he should be asking for weapons and ammo. But you and your bros can’t get rich easily that way, right Z?
.
People can sense they want to give it all away - throw it all alway - but they understand we are 10-11 months from an Election.
They could really care less about spending. And if you have confidence in the application of border enforcement, you’ve been a fool for some time.
In the first case above, some Ukraine dollars go to the US defense industry to purchase more modern equipment.
Yes, some of the equipment is newer (ie Patriot missile batteries, Abrams (?) tanks) but MOST is in the form I described above.
If they want to fund Ukraine pensions ask Europe or IMF to pay.

I agree - the EU is supposed to vote any day now on another 40(?) billion in aid to Ukraine … I think Romania is the holdout
Cong JD Vance mentioned some Bidenesque types wanting to decimate Social Security to give it to Ukraine——putting our seniors in poverty......... so that corrupt Ukrainians could buy more yachts.
NOTE Cong Vance was among the Republican senators last week to block a bill that would’ve provided additional tens of billions of tax dollars to Ukraine and Israel for their endless wars (wars that are none of our business).
The latest Biden fiasco-——a $111 billion “emergency supplemental package” also included nonsensical aid for the Indo-Pacific and billions to the U.S. southern border...... NOT to stop illegals pouring in........ but to facilitate transporting drug traffickers and assorted dangerous foreigners getting over the border and into our communities.
American officials say Ukrainians have unrealistic expectations about what the US will supply.
Ukranians are asking for millions of rounds of artillery from Western stockpiles......... that do not exist.
Americans demand to know the consequences for American families’
safety and security WRT Biden’s military drawdown for Ukraine
Yes I know. And?

BIDEN: We’ve sent Ukraine thousands of anti-armor, anti-[air] missiles, helicopters, drones, grenade launchers, machine guns, rifles, radar systems, more than 50 million rounds of ammunition. The United States alone has provided 10 anti-armor systems for every Russian tank that is in Ukraine — 10 to 1.
We’re providing Ukraine significant, timely intelligence to help them defend themselves against the Russian onslaught.
And we’re facilitating a significant flow of weapons and systems to Ukraine from our Allies and partners around the world, including tanks, artillery, and other weapons.
That support is moving with unprecedented speed.
Much — much of the new equipment we’ve announced in the past two mon- — two weeks has already gotten to Ukraine, where it can be put to direct use on the battlefield.
However, we have almost exhausted what we call — the fancy phrase — the “drawdown authority” that Congress authorized Ukraine — authorized for Ukraine in a bipartisan spending bill last month.
Basically, we’re out of money.
And so, that’s why today, in order to sustain Ukraine as it — as it continues to fight, I’m sending Congress a supplemental budget request.
It’s going to keep weapons and ammunition flowing without interruption to the brave Ukrainian fighters and continue delivering economic and humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people.
This so-called supplemental funding addresses the needs of the Ukrainian military during the crucial weeks and months ahead. And it begins — it begins to transition to longer-term security assistance that’s going to help Ukraine deter and continue to defend against Russian aggression.
This assistance would provide even more artillery, armored vehicles, anti-armor systems, anti-air capabilities that have been used so effectively thus far on the battlefield by the Ukrainian warriors.
You know, and it’s going to deliver much-needed humanitarian assistance as well as food, water, medicines, shelter, and other aid to Ukrainians displaced by Russia’s war, and provide aid to those seeking refuge in other countries from Ukraine.
It’s also going to help schools and hospitals open. It’s going to allow pensions and social support to be paid to the Ukrainian people so they have something — something in their pocket. It’s also going to provide critical resources to address food shortages around the globe.

Tucker has been so right on this. Mike Johnson is virtually useless.
Good thorough post. But I do not believe a word of what they are saying. Zelenskyyyyy is a tyyyyyrant.
That money will buy a lot of XS GI Joe costumes.
What’s not to understand about the request for billions from UKR. It fits perfectly within the business plan of the Underpants Gnome Theory.
Step 1: Collect/take underpants (US tax money)
Step 2: @##$%^ and (&&^^*%)
Step 3: PROFIT!!!! (or in the case of Z-man - WIN!!!)
Simple as pie. Brought to you by South Parkraine
Zelensky cannot be believed.
When will the little runt understand?
He has not an iota of credibility.
