Casey and Ron DeSantis are seeking to clarify comments the Florida first lady made on Friday that appeared to encourage out-of-state voters to participate in the Iowa caucuses.
"We're asking all of these moms and grandmoms to come from wherever it might be, North Carolina, South Carolina and to descend upon the state of Iowa to be a part of the caucus, because you do not have to be a resident of Iowa to be able to participate in the caucus.
After the Fox News appearance, Casey DeSantis clarified on X that by participating in the Iowa caucuses, she didn't mean voting.
Speaking to reporters after the event, the Florida governor denied that his wife was encouraging people to illegally vote in the January 15 caucus,

desperate people doing desperate things....
remember ron calling for sites in Florida to allow people to caucus for iowa?
This little guy is behaving like he is desperate, sadly.
That’s how Obama won Iowa...
Only Democrats are allowed to cross state lines to vote.
Meatball wants to cheat.
Just like Democrats.
“Meatball”
I’m not Italian but do you have to engage in ethnic slurs?
“Participate” in a caucus not mean “participate” in a caucus—and anyone who thinks that is what it means is a right wing insurrectionist conspiracy theorist!

I do not use Meatball in that context.
I use it as dumb as a rock like Meatball Rob Reiner.
My bad. I apologize.
The clown show that is the Republican “Primary” this year is just a laughable clown fest....
Every time one of these buffoons opens their mouths they just prove how right folks are for backing Trump.
They are all for their globalist backers, not for America or you.. period.. no a one of em.
“I do not use Meatball in that context.

Or maybe you do (Freudian Slip?).
Because the Rob Reiner correct term, associated directly with him via Archie Bunker, is Meathead, not Meatball:
Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom All in the Family (1971-1979)—https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Reiner
Doesn’t matter, anyway. From another thread up right now:
“Since an October poll, The Donald has jumped eight full points, from 43 percent to his current standing of 51 percent.
Second place Ron DeSantis is 32 whole points behind Trump with just 19 percent support.”
She's a better-looking Hillary, although both are female canines.
Did the word meatball hurt your feelings? Should the poster be arrested and prosecuted for a hate crime?
Can you list the words and terms which you approve of so everyone can avoid offending your delicate feelings?
Meathead, Meatball. Both mean the same to me.
Ron’s going to lose, and not because of this nonsense. The simple facts are that:
1) Ron has the charisma of a tree stump. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a smart guy, and I mostly agree with him on policy grounds. But he has to buy himself an engaging personality before having a hope of winning (or see #2); and
2) Donald Trump is running the field - because he’s a fighter, knows how to motivate people, and has already been POTUS with some pretty damned fine results (and fantastic results, considering what he went through). Until and unless Trump isn’t running, Ron has no shot. If he’s running against a bunch of non-Trump R’s, he could win (though it appears that Nikki would give him a good run for his money).
Ron blew his single best chance to ever be POTUS - he should have quietly approached Trump sometime in early 2021 and proposed that he will utterly support Trump in the primaries in return for being named the Veep candidate. The advantage to Ron would have been clear; the advantage to Trump would be to take out his chief potential rival with a handshake; the advantage to the party and nation would have been a potential 12-year run of genuinely patriotic R Presidents, something that we desperately need if we’re ever going to restore our Republic. Not that this can’t happen, but it would have been far easier if Ron had put his ego aside.
Yes, Meathead was from All in the Family. Hulk Hogan used Meatball to refer to Rocky in the first movie.
