Over 100,000 Ukrainians have died for no other reason than genocidal Russian Nazis have invaded their country and seek to, as Putin says here explicitly, erase it.
Whether you like it or not, Russia does have every right to protect its national sovereignty from the ever expanding NATO, which they were promised that NATO would not keep expanding, in 1991.
Just like we had every right to protect our nation from the USSR's attempts to nuclearize Cuba in the 60s.
Keep smacking the hornets nest and they will respond.
NATO thought a war between UKR and RU would end Putin.
They did everything in their power to get this war started. And then they cry “Unprovoked!” when Putin told them what would happen if they kept pushing for UKR in NATO. (Pushing included a coup.)
RU started the SMO to force UKR to the negotiating table. Before then NATO and UKR ignored RU’s attempts to negotiate re Ukr security arrangements.
After the SMO started, UKR willing went into negotiation with Russia. A ceasefire/peace framework was decided upon.
NATO scuttled that agreement because they wanted to destroy Putin without concern for UKR or Russian lives.
Russia mobilized and went on a war footing.
Many killed on both sides. UKR getting the worst of it.
NATO now wants out because their plan didn’t work.
